Nebraska DL transfer Keona Davis is transferring to Miami

I don’t know how to tell 1 of Lightfoot, Blount they are not starting. I think by mid year, Lightfoot will be our best DE.
He could be our best DE even if not starting. I lean to Blount and Wilson being the technical starters and Blount moving inside frequently. But Lightfoot may play just as much as those two.

I saw every game like everyone else in here and I think Blount is not only very talented but he is young for class and could very well end up an utter monster. All that said, my I eyes told me that the only reason Lightfoot didn’t start was because we had the #1 DE in the country and another top 5 DE ahead of him. The kid made plays. Until proven otherwise, he should start and be out there as much as possible.

Who doesn't start between Blount, Lightfoot, and Wilson is a tough one. But they're all going to play a ton. I'm not quite ready to predict the same for Lowe since he's coming off a serious injury.

Wilson 100% starts. Between Blount and Lightfoot, as of now I’m playing Lightfoot unless he gets into a game where he is getting abused setting the edge. Think Blount plays a bunch as well but I used this example a couple of weeks ago. Do you sit a Brian Burns because he isn’t ideal to set an edge? I’ve seen both play this year and it was clear who jumped off screen more.

Agree, I expect Lightfoot to be out there snap 1 for whatever that’s worth. I also expect him to pack on a few more to be able to handle early downs better, even though his functional strength is special. This is his money year and I’m sure he is aware of the opportunity he is facing. I just pencil Blount in as DL5, and he will play just as much as anyone else. I fully expect him to grow some more and blossom in Y3 too. God bless that kid cause I’m positive he had several schools offering him big time $ to come walk into a starting spot essentially. Very excited about this bunch with Hetherman/Taylor/Lewis having another year to develop them.

The only reason I watch pro football these days is to see how the Canes alumni are doing and root for them. I will become an insta-fan of whichever teams picks those two up.
Well you're going to be watching alot more because Mario is creating a pipeline straight to the league.

Ha! I'm not suggesting "sitting" him. He's going to play an awful lot whether he starts or not.

I think situations like this just kind of play out themselves. For example, if Lightfoot isnt able to hold up against the run, and Blount/Lowe is, there's only really one way to proceed.

To me, Lightfoot is a situational player player until proven otherwise. And, im not saying he wont develop into an every down player. I just haven't seen it yet
