NCAA preparing to pass new "Miami Rule" (End grad transfers)

I...don't really get the uproar? This wouldn't have impacted our most important transfers this year (Martell, Bolden) and basically requires that a grad transfer actually...you know...pursue a graduate degree at the school they go to.

What's the big deal?

People see The Portal® as an advantage for Miami, so anything that restricts it is bad for us.

I don't disagree with that, but we all know the coaches who are at the top now will get on board with The Portal® and dominate it the way they do everything else. This was only ever going to be a temporary advantage for us no matter what the rules say.

I smell Alabama.

Yep, Alabama - they cant stand to see those big bags they deliver being negated by the portal.

If that's the rule, no matter what classes - just make sure they get their Masters write-off. Problem solved.

I see this as out with the old, in with the new. As long as they keep granting immediate eligibility to players I don't think this changing much.

Oh they mad that Miami figured out how to get the most from the transfer portal.

If they truly attack the SEC's Foundations, a lot of people are going to jail...

Learned yesterday that my old boss actually stopped donating heavily to it. He is focusing on actual philanthropy at present.

So grad transfer needs to get a masters but undergrad can declare early and get nothing.
Seems fair. I mean it’s so freaking stupid and obviously biased to us it ain’t even funny.
Like I said everyone is so afraid of manny right now.
These mf’ers are soo shook.

And he’d be fine under the new rules if he gets his graduate degree from Miami.

This isn’t barring grad transfers, it just requires them to get a grad degree from the school they transfer to.

No, I get it. Rule isn't in place yet. I'm just curious of how long they have after they say, go pro, to get the graduate level degree finished. Most Grad Transfers that come in are on campus 6-9 months, unless they are the rare ones with 2 years of eligibility left over. You can't finish a graduate level degree in 6-9 months. I finished mine in 1.5 years but I was taking more than a full course load and not playing football on top of it.

This is really about college basketball. Unless I am mistaken, Miami has had exactly one grad transfer in basketball--Zach Johnson. I would expect at least 3 this summer before the rule takes affect. It's a b.s. reaction. Player has to be a full-time student to be eligible. Could the player drop out in March after the season is over? I'd suspect maybe a handful will do so.

I agree - this is a direct shot at college basketball. There's well over 100 grad transfers per year in NCAA basketball.

You guys have it all wrong, it’s “all about the kids” fellas.

Now think real hard who this prior grad transfer rule has ****ed off the most. Think short little tyrannical madman who wants every rule to benefit him...who almost never takes grad transfers but has lost a few prominent ones.

Hmmm...who could it be?

Considering Emmert hired him you’re not far off at all.

Putting all the corruption and bias aside, the NCAA has to be the dumbest organization out there. They need to hire a group of people with the title of “Common Sense Specialists”. They will be in charge of saying “hey, this is pretty stupid we shouldn’t do this”.

Exactly. The NCAA are stooges for the big programs and hypocrites. The NCAA could give a rat's *** if the kid got his (or her) undergraduate degree without using up his eligibility. But the kid must get his graduate degree or the institution gets docked the following year if he does not? As long as the kid qualifies for the graduate program and meets the academic requirements to stay eligible while in the program, that should all that is required.

Really a stretch to call this a "Miami rule." Hundreds of kids have transferred via this method. Miami has received, what, a dozen?

I guarantee you that, despite it making good fodder on this site, the NCAA isn't waking up every day thinking of ways to ***** Miami.
They are ..............their payback is painful....ask Coach L, and Blake...
Hiding in the shadows, is the pic of egg on their face with Shapiro....
They threw the ***** out there at the U, but failed.
They are FUC****.
Plain and simple...

Short little tyrannical madman....hmmm

It's Napoleon, isn't it....That little dude has had it out for Miami since Thrill Hill went wild in the tunnel during the Canes' rout of the Sorbonne in the 1815 Waterloo Bowl....
All along I thought it was the loss at the Louisiana Purchase Bowl....

Not that bad of a thing. The Klan would have gotten up to speed on this and offered bags to players across the nation at lesser programs as players start to develop into legit NFL prospects.
