I dont however I also dont think the move was made because they already had Napier locked up

No, the move was made because they lost to Mizzou, no doubt. But even if they lost that game, Mullen was gone this weekend anyway. The Mizzou game is not what got him fired, it was just the final straw that forced them to do it yesterday rather than this coming Sunday after the FSU game.

I really hope so (if this is actually the hire) and UiF's recent track record on this front would absolutely lend credibility to this hope.

I'll say this though- some people I respect are pretty high on Napier but even they say you can't ever be sure of anything when a guy makes the jump from a small/lower level program to a big one as a first time head coach. That it's hard even gauging "star" coordinators already at big time programs making that jump.

To be honest I said that purely for the shark photos

But I like Napier personally, but McElwain had a lot of momentum back then as well. Gut feeling says it ends in similar fashion if it goes through

Or maybe I’m just hoping it does
 
Dont think Napier is a home run at all, still a lot to be determined with him. He has been a good OC but nothing earth shattering. As a head coach he has only been at one school with no G5 experience. Even this year with all those returning starters and a nice record they still got smoked pretty good by Texas who turned out to be a bad team. They also have 5 of those wins by a score or less including 27-24 at home vs Nichols st, 28-27 Arkansas st 20-18 South Alabama etc.

Not sure how many recruiting ties he has to Florida either. Napier doesnt scare me, if they hire him or Stoops Sr I will be happy.

All that would be missing would be Colin Cowherd proclaiming it the hire of the century the way he slobbered over the hiring of his buddy McEltoof.

Only thing I read about Napier was he was at Clemson as a noob doing dirt on the trail. That's all I have read
 
those are saying he's an elite recruiter..

yeah I mean every coach is an elite recruiter when they are recruiting for Alabama. He's gotta prove it as a HC at a different program before we start throwing the word "elite" out there all the time
