Again, Dunning-Krugerism perfectly exposed. So instead of mindlessly repeating something moronic, realize that for the NFL to pick out an NCAA HC, they have to be cream of NCAA crop. Good X and O, good game managers, good at evaluating talent, good at everything as would be needed for NFL success, which does not including great recruiting. You have zero clue about Butch Davis as a coach.

Butch was an amazing talent evaluator but is/was a horrible game day coach.

His records were 8-3, 9-3, 5-6, 9-3, 9-4, 11-1.

He also didn't do **** at UNC other than bring in talent (while cheating) and still didn't win games.

His records at UNC were 4-8, 8-5 (lost Meineke Car Care Bowl), 8-5 (lost Meineke Care Care Bowl), 8-5 (won Music City Bowl) and never finished better than tied for 3rd in the coastal.

We would have done those same things with Coker. Just like they did the following year. Funny how the "team coached itself" only applies to the next year when Coker was in charge.

Erickson left the cupboard very thin and recruited poorly and Butch also had to coach through that mess.

Out of the ashes butch resurrected the **** Phoenix. FOH with your bullshat. Butch is is a god-king if recruiting, developing and BUILDING a program.

Lastly, butch was JJs lead recruiter. Finding and developing talent is who that man is.

UM grad and 25 year season ticket holder.

Interesting how I provided evidence of his mediocrity yet you provided nothing.

Butch brought us through the darkness to the light but he still was **** as a gameday coach and he proved that he was **** throughout his years at UNC.

UNC had just as many players drafted (while cheating) and he coached against Corch Shannon teams (which discounts those wins down to zero).

2007 - beat a 5-7 Miami team at home 33-27
2008 - beat a 7-6 Miami team away 28-24
2009 - beat 9-4 Miami team at home 33-34
2010 - lost to a 7-6 Miami team away 33-10

but I guess you can just ignore that in his 12 years as a college coach he had one 10 win season (11-1 in 2000).

I don't think Richt is an elite coach but all the Botch lover's around here are choosing to ignore reality in thinking he walks on water.

Yeah.....Down 31 schollies because of Ericksons Alcoholic ***....No Bowl or TV for a yr....Azzwipes flying Banners as if ANY of UMs woes were Butchs fault...Public perception of UM was trash....and through it all does what No other coach in NCAA History could do with unlimited resources......I roamed UM sidelines from 95-2000...Practices and games.....You can't comprehend how hard Butch and staff worked....the hrs and miles put in are legendary.....To sit there and think that Butch couldn't have come here in 07.....just 7yrs removed from UM, and not had success is retardation 101......We'd be in alot better shape than now.....

UNC was a mess when he got there. they couldnt win more than 4,5 games a year.

at one point, i lost my cool with butch but W/O butch, there is no um football today. EVERYONE passed on this job. that man took it and couldnt even field a 2 deep.

That 11-1 season was the culmination of 4yrs of Severe sanctions....Not too Shabby.....Take 31 MF-ing Schollies from Saban....Dabo or Urban...and throw in No Bowl or TV for a yr....and in a yr or two be sure to tell me what Great gameday coaches they are.....

Who the **** is talking about '07? The discussion is about 2 years ago hiring 64 yr old Butch after washing out at UNC vs 55 year old Mark Richt (who won 10 or more games 11 of his 17 seasons).

I don't love the way this season has played out and all the air seems to have been let out of the balloon with the dreadful decision to bench (and not put back in Perry) along with our **** O-line, play calling, and special teams but those that pretend old wash-up Butch was an option are dumber than Randy Shannon's quotes about playing snake.
