Been saying this for nearly 20 years. Butch won big because his teams were so much more talented than the opponent that it was literally impossible to lose. And it still took a miracle at BC and V Tech to allow us to win a natty.

butch wasnt the coach in '01 when bc happened. we lost to uw his last year but once dorsey found his grove, we blew through that schedule inclduing beating a FSU team everyone thought was unbeatable and stopping michael vick.

You're right. But my point was that Butch set the team up to win at least 1 championship with the ridiculous amount of talent he recruited.

We almost lost to that FSU team because we were up 17-0 dominating them in every facet and he started corching all over himself.

He's the EXACT same age as those 2. The Dunning-Krugers "age" argument against Butch is nicely highlight by that fact. Yes, I know you can't be cognizant of that illogical idiocy.
The fact of the matter is Butch's age has zero to do with whether he could continue AT MIAMI where he left off, which was with the greatest team in NCAA history. If you think Saban could have matched or beat that team, you're delusional.

Wrong. We were in a dogfight because that FSU teams was one of the top teams that year. They ended up playing for the title when we should have.
They were a 1000X better than the f'ing first year team of Willie freaking Taggart who totally outcorched your idol

You’re completely missing the fact they both built their philosophy and culture more than a decade ago. They’ve adapted throughout the years and have perfected it. Saban has zero financial constraints, literally unlimited money, and is the one and only voice in that program. He has absolute power. More than the AD, probably even more than the President of the university.

Ask him if he’d have the energy to do it all over from scratch.

Comparing Saban to Butch is laughably naive man.

You’re comparing a guy who’s literally never won to a guy who does nothing but win.

When did Saban have a 31 scholarship loss/massive sanctions and 2000 era UM staff salary Einstein?
You're comparing Saban to Butch is Dunning-Krugerism. Butch actually coached the pathetic Browns to the playoffs. Saban had 2 pathetic losing seasons with Fins and GTFO. Without Alabama or LSU SEC zillions, he's nothing.

Butch got blown out by FSU and VT literally every year when he didn’t have those scholarships right? He didn’t outcoach Beamer and Bowden to an upset while he wasn’t on a level playing field did he?

I was at every one of them. It was a myriad of mistakes, bad clock management, penalties and *** whippings.

He won when he had overwhelming talent. Loved what he put together here, it was an epic team. But he wasn’t an isn’t a great Xs and Os guy and assuming he’d have continued doing it is ridiculous.

IOW you can't name a single poor XO coach hired away from NCAA by NFL like you claimed.

But you can't name a single "poor X & O" NCAA coach that the NFL then picked to be head coach, can you?
Again, Dunning-Krugerism perfectly exposed. So instead of mindlessly repeating something moronic, realize that for the NFL to pick out an NCAA HC, they have to be cream of NCAA crop. Good X and O, good game managers, good at evaluating talent, good at everything as would be needed for NFL success, which does not including great recruiting. That, is how Butch ended up in Cleveland (as well as the pathetic UM admin)
 
We have 2 more years before a CMR buyout is financially feasable.
CMR not walking out on 3 to 4 million a year.
CMR not putting his Son in the unemployment line.
