Flashed in Mannys system because Mannys system was made for DL to just do whatever they want. The amount of teams/players that had career days against us is evidence of that. Last night was a pick your poison for Guidry. Go into a shell and get picked apart slowly or sell out and get burned. Until the DL and DB are where they need to be talent wise that will continue against teams with elite QBs and WRs.

A little bit of hyperbole. Numerous people said their line was big and physical and have several players that were highly rated.

They sold out to shut down the running game. Dawson even mentioned in his post-game comments that it was obvious, and it left opportunities in their coverage which was primarily man. He called the game accordingly.

The difference is that TVD had a clean pocket all game long and Dawson call the right plays to take advantage of what A&M was providing. Last night, when TVD had a clean pocket, he made plays. On his second TD, he couldn't have made a better pass while standing in taking the hit. Then in the second half he was continually taking hits (similar to what Mayes took in the first half).

These teams are not stupid. They're making adjustments. You can't just do the same thing and expect different results. Dawson has to counter that. I'll let someone who knows X and O better than opine on what we should do.

Those guys still had an impact at the collegiate level and played on NFL rosters

He is basically playing NT so most of the time he has been taking on 2 blocks

The good things he does which don't translate to individual stats are what you'd expect from an above average college defensive tackle, but first rounder? I think it's been so long since we've had one of those at DT people have forgotten what they look like. A first round DT can takeover games and has a motor to wear you down. He does neither, but especially the latter. Gerald Willis was the closest we had in terms of impact and he couldn't get a cup of coffee in the NFL, but he absolutely turned FSU inside out in 2018 the entire second half.

I gave news for you but good DT’s are constantly doubles teamed yet they seek to make plays constantly. It’s been so long since we’ve had a dude inside people don’t know what one looks like.

He's disappointing, he did make a few plays on Saturday, but we really need him to be an unblockable force and he just isn't. The entire defense was mediocre on Saturday, particularly in the 2nd half, nobody makes the big play when we truly needed to stop the bleeding.
