You know you inadvertently raise a good point. One rationale for not firing Manny after Blake was fired was supposedly that they don't have an AD to do it, and the BOT does not want to get involved with firing a coach. But Strawley is technically the interim AD. If they really wanted Manny out, she could do it.

She should just do it even if she's not authorized. Leave here a true redemption story. I mean Tony Hernandez tried to make idiotic hires when he was interim for like 3 weeks so Ol' J Strawz should just use thar precedent.

Mike Ryan/Lebatard and David Samson discussed the following today:

- AD search could likely take up to another week (sigh)
- Feldman will probably be the person that will break Mario news (Good or bad).
- Mike cares about accuracy with his info and wants to elevate the program.
- Firm is not leaking any names. Leaks are on Miami end. The firm has a lot of power due to Frenk relying on them heavily.
- Samson believes that Miami didn't need a search firm for this position but helps with the competing factions at play (Epstein crew vs Mas group)
- Frenk will make final call. Leaning heavily on Rudy Fernandez (#1) and Echevarria (#2).
- Epstein is toothless but is doing his best to make Miami look like a circus with his leaks and Epstein is pro Status quo.
- Rudy was team Nunez (Columbus crew preference) but search firm didn't give a favorable recommendation. He wasn't up to their standards.
-Eddie Nunez broke up with Miami before they could break up with him.
- Eddie Nunez overplayed his hand.
- Lemonis is anti Manny and anti search firm and anti Status Quo. Wants Mario here.
- Mario knows what can be done here especially if he has all of the support in place that he wants.
- Samson is ok with giving the power to Mario. It's the way college sports is headed. Whoever the AD is should just worry about the other sports and let Mario have the power on football.

I don’t understand a possible Mario-Alonzo alliance. Why would Mario want a football-specific AD who is a scouting guru? That’ll probably alienate Mario — having a guy supervising him too closely.

You do realize that Mario wanted to hire him to work at Oregon after UM didn't give him a job. Relationships are important, not everything is a power struggle. Maybe Mario values his input and knows that he isn't the smartest man in the room, rather than act like he is (which is our current problem).

If people don't understand how search firms work there's not much you can do to help them. If you've ever worked with a headhunter for a job you know the things you have to go through to qualify yourself to that firm before they will present you.

Right... there is a process that takes time. I get your point but obviously this is even much more involved than a recruiter. Recruiters just dip into their countless droves of resumes for search terms or thru their bench, but these guys are out researching candidates that already have jobs and many of whom haven't even inquired about the job. The one thing they are not doing is starting off with a short list.

From all the leaks we can see why they had to use a firm to do the hiring. They wouldn't be able to do jack with that many hands in the cookie jar. If there are special conditions the candidates would have to agree to them before they could even take it any further. From the sound of it this board wants a special condition, which is having a football type exec sitting between the AD and the HC. People have to know that would push many ADs away. Which is why I suspect Nunez took his name out of the ring.

Its like **** mofos... you want to change how the BOT and football program overall is run, its obvious they needed a firm because of how crappy its run now and you want all these changes super quick. That just doesn't line up in the real world and is part of the reason people are saying that Miami fans a FN shiat up with unrealistic expectations. If you really want major changes then taking time should make you happy. Its the only way to get the changes everyone acts like we need. No top AD is going to come in here knowing that massive changes concerning how the football program is run is on the table and unresolved.

The right decision should have been made already. We’re about to be at three weeks without an AD. If you believe Mike Ryan’s reporting (which I do) Blake James had been a lame duck for months.

We will all play the result with the eventual hire and that’s the right thing to do. But the leaks, the time, and the current presence of Manny as head coach are not positive signs. Hopefully the end result wipes all that away.

Read between the lines. If Nunez was "not good enough" for Turnkey, and a P5 AD shark is swimming in the water but just below the surface, then it means that UM has not quite secured the AD that we want. And who knows what the reason is. Money? Timing? Maybe this P5 AD wants to know that Mario will definitely say yes before he says yes.

We are speculating here, but is fairly easy to narrow the options down by using logic. The artificiality of "but, but, but three weeks have passed" is just nonsense. While some people can find examples where an AD was hired quickly, it is just as easy to find examples of AD searches that took much longer than 2-3 weeks.

If a P5 AD shark is swimming around in the water, let's make sure we land him properly.

Exactly. Just because he's slithered away from selling Manny to Frenk back then and is smart enough to try distance himself from that (whereas Epstein has entrenched himself in it) doesn't mean his judgment has improved and he knows what the **** he's doing on the AD front.

Luckily, there (hopefully) seems to be some more checks and balances in front of Frenk this time. I'm usually pretty anti search firm and consultant but I'll gladly take an L on that front if Turnkey ends up having blocked nonsense and provided a legit candidate pool- one legitimate enough to have justified their anti-Jurich stance (if true).

I don’t know why anyone is comfy with a dork/snake/political puppet boy like Rudy Fernandez anywhere near any important decisions.

He whiffed on his play to snag Manny 3 years ago as that has turned out to be an abject failure. And he clearly just whiffed on Nunez (so much so an outside source shut him down).

Yet here we are… with him being one of two guys Frenk is confiding in...

Only at UM can you be held to account by being “promoted” for constantly being wrong.

We may get Mario but clowns such as Rudy who gleefully play both sides of the fence need to be eradicated. Immediately!

Nunez getting rejected is probably the best sign we have that we really are going to at least sign an AD that has a good track record and won't just be a BS political hire based on a relationship.
