Hilarious. You act as if five different coaching staffs have been doing all the same things for 20 years.
*SMH* Blake, is that you? They have all failed. If you can't grasp that, you're not sentient. If you don't see any patterns in their failures, you're not smart. The fact that they've all added their own flair to failing doesn't eliminate the benefit of diagnosing things they've done wrong.

All you're doing here is spinning and deflecting, and you sound just like every UM AD shill who shows up on this site in the wake of a corching change to wah wah wah about nothing in particular. You try to use 'changes' to silence a discussion. You try to use imperfection of example to refute a general observation, which is logically dishonest and idiotic.

If you don't want to talk about Atwell, you're wasting a lot of words doing just that in this thread. Be my guest and take your own advice and STFU.

UM will be back when we have a staff that doesn't let really good football players like Atwell slip through the cracks. Sure, a reasonable argument could be made to not offer him. "The measurables" weren't there. But that is exactly the problem. Whether it's CB or WR, we are missing on good football players from South Florida. Winners. At positions we should NEVER be starving at.
What I remember about Tutu in high school is that every week his senior year, when somebody summarized a Northwestern game, he was the first player you'd hear about. He made that many plays. Now he has gone on and done the same at Louisville. Not shocking. Missing on any one player like this is anecdotal and understandable. It's just happens too much with UM.

Now it sounds like we actually offered Mike Jackson, so can somebody in the know tell us more about him?

Yeah, he was a JAG in high school:

"Named to 2017 Miami Herald All-Dade First Team…Totaled over 1,000 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns throughout prep career…Hauled in 37 receptions for 619 yards and seven touchdowns during junior season…Registered 117 yards receiving and caught pair of touchdowns in 2017 FHSAA Regional Playoffs against Miami High School…Named to 2016 Miami Herald First Team All-Dade Football Team"
1,000 yards in 4 years? Wtf. That has to be a typo.

the ‘everyone missed on him’ argument is awful. a complete failure to understand what we’re supposed to know and do regarding kids in our back yard.

You n I have been pounding the table on this topic in unison for years now, it seems.

Miami MUST do a much better job evaluating the talent they have available locally. D$'s recent post on the number of All-Americans(!!!!) that Miami did not legitimately offer was jarring. If you look around college football, and especially focus on defensive backs...the number of corners that started very very early at Power 5 and top flight Group 5 schools that will go on to play in the NFL that Miami didn't offer or took away offers, etc. is insane, IMO. Not understanding that you are annually sitting on gold and you just need to go out there with a shovel and pan and do the work to find it is gross negligence and it happens every year. Its even worse when some of these players are so obvious, we jamokes on this forum can adequately identify them.

we’ve been saying this for years. i have been yapping about evals at the program since the early coker years! so frustrating not only that we ain’t doing it right all these years later but how little the staff and admin (and most fans) seem to understand about the topic.

Some of the evaluations aren't even that difficult.

I mean, 4-star linebackers...4-star cornerbacks...like, some no brainer real offers. These are players with legitimate Power 5 offers, too. These are not mystery players.

And before people say "so and so was offered!!!" ... "offering" someone in April, and then not talking to them from July to November and then sending out the "hey big head" text to see if they are interested around Thanksgiving, isn't a real offer and definitely poor recruiting and still all about the poor evaluations this school continues to make across generations of staffs.

yep. 5 incompetent head coaches in a row and an admin that is clueless and doesn’t care ... hard to overcome.

This thread is funny. People acting like Tutu Atwell is some elite cant miss receiver. Im much more worried that we cant get the real difference maker type players like Surtain than missing on the eval on an above average at best tiny receiver.

Have you seen him play? Dude is way above average. Louisville tries hard to get that man the ball in space because he can house it at any time.

Terrible logic.
Tutu is a difference maker. Without Atwells, you can't start winning to the point where you can complete for kids like Surtain.

Lol not gonna get any generational talents without pulling in slightly above average receivers. Terrible Logic.

Yeah he is slightly above average. Not like we are talking about missing out on DeVonta Smith or someone actually worth crying about.
