Midseason Surprises/Disappointments

Brown brothers not getting more time and when Devonte has been in, he gets beat or panics

But I also think they’ve gotten less time because Porter, Couch, and Davis have all been surprises and solid

A little disappointment in Kam for his coverage play costing us multiple TDs against GT and UNC. If he’s a 1st-2nd round pick that stuff can’t happen

Coordinators using the best 11.
Team keeps fighting to win.
Improvement by a large percentage of kids including Manny kids

Disappointments
Mental errors by players and coaches
Refs?
Apparently the DJ cause every home game someone says something
 
Surprises
- WR room
- Culture / Fight
- OL - best in the nation maybe? at least top 3
- Success of offense - beat two top 10 defenses relatively easily, torched A&M and ran down Clemson's throat in the 4th quarter despite them loading the box

Disappointments
- GT game
- Refs - almost makes you feel like they're gonna get us again doesn't it? GT Chaney fumble was worst call I've ever seen in my life live
- Injuries - feel like it's racking up and hopefully the next two weeks are clean

Unfair to put TVD there. He had one rough game against GT and we still should’ve won. He gets a pass from me there considering how the game ended. Even the top flight QBs have a game or two like this. Look at Penix last week. Heck, look at Dorsey in ‘00 Vs La Tech. Looked like someone else had his uniform on. It happens.

- Not being completely tuned out by mid-October.
- The culture change
- FYZICAL play at the LOS on both sides of the ball.

Disappointments:

- Ray Ray. Only because he has hardly sniffed the field after getting a ton of praise in spring and camp.
- LT56. Yes he played well against Clemson. Yes he is playing out of position. But for the love of God, he was a no show for the first 6 games. I hope I can erase his name from this list in December.
- As already mentioned, victory formation. C'mon man.
- Keontra Smith. Thanks for personal foul as the only contribution this season. Hit the portal fuccwad.
- Armondo Blount. GTFOH with that 3rd grade troll job.
- Joe Sa'lavea and DT recruiting. I'm not going to explain this because it's too damm painful.
- Losing to a shidt team like GT. This is something that MUST stop moving forward. Not losing (although I hate it), but losing to team that have no business being on the field with us. Teams like GT, UVa, VaTech, Duke, Wake, NC State, Pitt and BC should NEVER EVER beat us, especially at home. Once every 20 years or so, ok. But every season for the past 20 years we've lost several of those sorts of games. Shidt needs to stop. NOW.

That hire was met with a LOT of resistance around here and some of it was valid

He’s got his group playing very well and George’s turnaround has been amazing
 
Jaden Davis had himself a game vs aTm but he has been picked on since. Ups and downs there.

Surprises:

*CB play- If you had said in the Spring that our CB rotation would be Couch, JDavis and Porter Jr..the entire board would say we had the worst pass defense stats in the country and probably would be 5-7 again at best because of it. Say what you want..these 3 have EXCEEDED VERY LOW expectations. People keep talking about FSU WRs and their height? I think these 3 will accept that challenge.

*Bain- Nobody saw this coming. Imagine if Messidor didnt get hurt? Or if we could recruit/convince ANY big time DT to play next to him for the next 2 years? Ugh. (Stone? Blount? Scott? Breland? ANYONE????) Lets hope Burroughs is up to the task. We need him to be.

*WR play - Most had given up on George and BSmith and thought Xman was not a #1 option. Welp, there goes that theory. Kudos to this group! That JUCO kid (Kirk?) cant even sniff the field and he was brought here to take a spot in the rotation! I cant even remember his name now. lol.

Disappointments:

*Brown brothers and JRichard - Ummmm...did I miss something? What happened here? Lol. Not even in the rotation??

*DL Recruiting - After witnessing what Bain is doing not being able to convince one 5* DL recruit to play next to him for the next 2 years. I dont get it. I really dont.

*TE usage - I have no idea how we can convince any premier TE to play in this offense based on what we have seen thus far. Who would have thought that UM would not use the TE pretty much at all in our offensive scheme? Sheesh. Hope this changes soon.

Other than that, I am pretty happy. We should be 6-1 save for a dumb blunder by Mario so that is my mindset. We are still locked in for a potential 9-3 regular season which would be HUGE for the program and Mario's vision. ****, I would even take 8-4 under certain circumstances. So not really much to complain about.

Do you think Addae deserves any praise for the play of Couch, Davis and Porter? Or do you think they are benefactors of the schematic changes?

For Porter maybe, but I don't think Davis & Couch have been that good. But I don't view CB's in the same way that everyone else does, so what may look like good to play to most doesn't skate past me as easily.

But overall, Addae hasn't really done anything for me that justifies him being on staff. He's a very average recruiter without the Kirby/Muschamp Money Machine backing him & the on the field product hasn't really been great either IMO.

On board with everyone saying D. Brown has been a disappointment. I expected him to be a shoe in starter, not sure what the deal is there. I expected Jadais to play a lot more too.


The WR’s and OL are the pleasant surprises. I expected both groups to be much improved, but not like this. I think our top 4 guys - 3,4,7 and 0, all have NFL futures.

Not sure if anyone thinks Couch has been “good” so much as last year he was less than useless and now he’s…ya know…not useless

It’s a low bar 😂

If only we had one more year of Ivey with Guidry this time… 👀
