Michael Irvin II out for season

**** that sucks for depth purposes & I really believed he would come into his own this year.

Langham or Njoku obviously have the size to move to TE if necessary with the depth at WR. Miami will be alright.

Well Polendy is supposed to be the blocking TE. However, that might give away the play when he goes in.

Irvin’s progression was one of the main things I was gonna watch in fall camp. This is a huge loss.

If there’s a silver lining, at least it happened so early in camp. Gives the coaches time to see what they have in Jordan and Mallory, and to scheme up some power packages.

I don’t see any way we don’t run some kind of unbalanced line package. We don’t even have the depth to move Patchan to TE. Poor roster management.

Top two TE's are true freshmen, 100 Wide receivers on the roster, a dynamic dual threat QB in Perry. It's time to run the spread, Richt.

It think we will see a 6th OL on obvious running downs in short yardage.
I feel like the 2010 team did that a lot. Maybe I’m wrong but Seantrel Henderson was a true freshman and they had some solid o lineman on that team and they plugged him in for goal line and short yard situation.

You do know irvin is not a good blocker right?

He's a **** of a lot stronger than Jordan or Mallory. We'll be fine, but the bottom line is Mark Richt is in the business of winning football games. Every single thing he does is designed to help his team win. And Irvin would have absolutely played a good bit against LSU. So clearly Richt felt playing him would have helped him win the game. Not having him is a blow.

That being said, of course obviously this opens the door completely for Jordan and Mallory. They need to grow up quick. I'd expect Jordan to have a major impact in the passing game starting in Week 1. Don't be surprised to see him catch 4-5 balls for 50+ yards. But I just don't love this for a 3rd and 2 or goal line.

Strength wasn't irvin strong point either and im not sure if he is stronger than jordan.

Langham is big enough to move to TE, which will give us needed depth. We have enough WRs to allow this important move early in camp.

Richt will never play street ball. Perry needs to know what he's doing before Richt plays him. Yeah, he has the skill set, but Richt has always said his QB needs to know the hows and whys so he can trust them to make good decisions. Bad decisions will cost you more than limited ability.
