Hate that Irvin II is out, but the solution is not that hard: go more 4-5 WR sets (we most certainly have the depth/talent to do that - let those WRs eat), and hope Rosier can make easy completions to the skill guys with favorable matchups. Let those guys make plays.
When we have to run in short yardage, bring in an extra OL...I don't give a **** if it's a "tell" for what we're running - we have to execute better offensively in short yardage either way. ****...see if Willis/D-Jack or another one of the DL can be athletic enough to be the decoy type of guy...and maybe even throw it to him once or twice like Bama did with Da'Ron Payne. (Maybe a spot for Greg Rousseau?)
This injury does open up more targets for the TE's, but it also opens up more targets for the likes of Cager/Langham/Njoku...all of our bigger WRs, for any routes that a TE would be running in our offense. Fvck...to me, just make Langham your de facto starting "TE" in our spread sets. I trust him to make big plays more than Irvin II at this point in their careers anyway. If Jordan/Mallory become guys you can't keep off the field instead - so be it...I'm all for it.
Another big plus for using our WRs more in the TE's spot in the offense when we spread it out is that our WRs actually are really good blockers on the outside. Whatever blocks Irvin II could have made either in the run game or downfield can be made by Langham or Cager just as easily, IMO.
