The star rankings don’t tell the story here because once bama gets ahold of guys, they turn into smart, physical monsters usually. Our guys turn into head hunting flag magnets or guys who can’t pick up a playbook in 3 years. Bam will be much more physically and mentally ready than we are, I have no doubt. They always look good in openers

I didn’t want to up vote this post against me being a hometown fan of my Canes BUT we need these kids to change the way they have lost control when things aren’t going there way of doing exactly what you posted.

It’s statistically impossible to have a 0% chance to win. The odds of us winning are very low, that’s just how it is.

And this revelation that our roster isn’t filled with zero star scrubs is crazy. We’ve always had talent and we’ve always failed to win with that talent. The notion that we aren’t that far behind Bama bc of the article is laughable. We are nowhere close to them in anything. The eye test can tell you that. We were giving up 600 yards to UNC while they were putting up 600 in the title game.

None of our other players match up to whatever Alabama has. Even if we did have comparable players, Manny is still in charge and running the defense like he has since 2016. We will be out-coached in every aspect of the game like we always have.

The offense will have no consistent running game, and we will start the season with non-D1 players like Mark Pope and Dee Wiggins playing against Alabama. Its part of the Manny system of starting players based off of seniority/loyalty. D'Eriq King will be healthy and ready to go but will be completely shook just like he was against Clemson last year.

The defense will be exposed against Alabama to the tune of the UNC game last year. Our defensive line is the most underwhelming group since 2013. Mannys awful scheme, lack of LB recruiting, and refusal to hire a legit LB coach has us essentially playing a 9-man defense against 11-man offenses.

No other football program in the history of mankind has had linebacker play like this:


Our defensive backs are still average at best with the exception of Stevenson, who has a high football IQ.

We still dont have a legit return man. I hope Restrepo can figure it out. Maybe Rambo.

The light at the end of the tunnel is that besides Manny, the coaching staff now seems to be respectable. The recruiting at most positions is improving. We have legit options at QB if King gets hurt and for the future. If Manny leaves and Lashlee takes over with T-Rob as defensive coordinator, we can improve in the future.

BUT, until then, we are going to be annihilated by Alabama, lose to the rising UNC, and at least one other mediocre team. We do not have a comparable roster to Alabama.

Lol wow that’s some of the worst LB play I’ve ever witnessed. We are in trouble if guys like McCloud & Jennings are getting reps. Neither should touch the field unless it’s special teams.
 
I can’t imagine hitting a D-1 power 5 anyone in this day .
Safeties 6’3 225 bullets hitting machines and LB same size but 235-240 DL 340 DE 250-270

I CANNOT IMAGINE THE COLLISION ALL GAME LONG.

If players aren’t at battle speed ready and thick brother you can get killed on a D-1 football field.

I played with some real dude’s in my day but GEEEZ , NOT ONE including myself would attempt taking the field this day and age.

I agree that we likely lose, but there is no data for next season yet. Bama significant turnover since the title game last year. Maybe Alabama looks exactly like it did against Ohio State with a new coordinator, QB, and without Devonta Smith. Maybe they have growing pains.

Its their run game that frightens me... think 2020 UNC... LBs have to step up this game because their hands will be full...

Yup. Zion looked like the same old Zion in the spring game to me too.

Lake reminds me of those Warslant writers back in the mid 2000s that said FSUs Oline would be a strength on the team. For no reason other than they had a lot of experience and were all upperclassmen. Well guess what? They still sucked.

Rarely do you see a huge improvement by an OL if they are already sufficient weight and size wise. Zion was ready last year. Sure they can fine tune some things but these guys are what they are.

They have really been struggling to replace starters under Saban, good point.

I’m with you on that. As crazy as it sounds this will be our shot. If we wanna make a national splash this is it. But I just don’t see it happening unless they turn it over about 5 times. They still have Saban. He doesn’t rebuild. They’re gonna be really good.
