Miami V.S. Bama 3:30 kickoff

Why would you think Miami was going to be prime time? We are borderline top 25 whereas Clemson vs. UGA should be a top 5 matchup.

Because “primetime television” is all about one thing - ratings.

Miami and Bama both dwarf Clemson and Georgia when it comes to brand/recognition. Clemson will be taking a step back and Georgia has never won a **** thing.

Miami and Bama would draw more all day everyday. Poor choice by abc but who cares.. let’s make little Nickys start to the season living ****!!!

Not surprised. Why would the execs want to risk a blowout as a primetime game on opening weekend? Clemson-UGA is the smart choice by them.
This. Too risky for ABC. Last 2 primetime games we got blown out last year. (Clemson and UNC) Literally the game was over by halftime. They want to believe that we would keep it a game because the UM and Bama brands are huge...but thats a tough choice to make.

By taking a step back you mean winning the ACC and playoff contention? I'd sign up for that step back.

LMAO!!!!!!! He got my man so high he stuck in 2000 bro

HAHAHAHAHHA.

And just so my guy doesn't think I'm only a sarcastic **** (which I am), let's just take a peek at some of the numbers.

The Miami-gator game in 2019, which was literally the only football game occurring on the planet that week--remember, it was "Week 0"--had a 3.4 rating. That wasn't even close to the highest rated game of the season. So, sure, Alabama turns more TVs on than the gator, but the week 0 game when everyone has waited 8 months for football and there's not a singular other game on barely moved the needle.

For comparison's sake, the very next week, the 7:30 ABC game drew a 4.0 rating (Oregon vs Auburn), which was more than our game, and that was at the same time as the 8:00 ESPN game (ND vs Louisville) was drawing a 3.3 rating, which was almost as much as our game.

Miami is still a nice draw, for sure. But let's take our heads out of the sand, please. The Clemson game last year, where both teams were ranked in the Top 10, only drew a 2.6 rating. It was the 4th highest rated game of just that week. We're never, ever, ever, ever getting a primetime spot over 2 marquee programs at this point. 3:30 is just fine. And you know what will draw more viewers for Miami going forward? Winning that 3:30 game.
