Miami opens at -18.5 vs USF

I’m still not seeing it with USF.

Their down to down success rate hasn’t been good either week.

UF and Boise struggled finishing drives and were unable to create any big plays.

And USF got some big play explosives to balance out their lack of down to down efficiency. But some of those were flukes that you wouldn’t expect to repeat week to week (fake punt for a TD. A bad pass into double coverage when UF wasn’t looking where neither defender made a play on the ball).

I guess if USF continued to get a bunch of explosives and stopped Miami from getting any, they have a chance.

But I see no reason to think that is going to happen. So you’re left with one team that has a ton of down to down success, against a team that doesn’t have much.

Our success rates vs ND were good I take it?

It wasn’t great. But we were playing a very good team, so it’s not going to be great. And metrics didn’t really have the post-win expectancy drastically different. Both teams basically played to a coin flip, and the success rate shows that.

Here’s net success rate Week 1:

South Florida was bad. Miami was a little better than ND, but not dominate.

I see many people here talking down about USF. Many were the same ones torching FSU and Castellanos before the season began. I for one won't do that and picked FSU TO blow out Alabama. I did not expect USF to beat the Gators but nobody really knows. What I do know is the CANES should not take USF lightly at all. Their coach is a gamer and Maro is not. We should have beaten ND by at least two TD's and we barely squeaked by them at home. What many people do not put into context is Mario has an incredible knack of making games close that shouldn't be. I truly hope we blow out USF but we should all be aware that USF is a much better than average team for certain. After watching the game last night I'm convinced that Mario should be locked up in a closet during the game and not be able to make any coaching decisions. Not to give any other quarterback a least a quarter of game experience besides Williams is absolutely CRIMINAL. We all hope Beck stays healthy the entire season. GO CANES!

Usf should be top 10. Just strictly on results against preseason hype
Now their qb is exactly the type that has given us fits for years. He will really prepare us for mighty midget v FSU
Limit TOs and browns big play ability and I see and 2 score win. You know Mario will keep it super simple

If only we had recent history to give us some insight into how the two programs compare...

Sorry but if we are a real playoff team this game shouldn’t be close.

Oklahoma state has been a decent p5 team that got destroyed after 30 seconds by Oregon.

Anyone with half of a brain knew that uf was not gonna be better than last year based on who left and who got replaced. Again everyone falls for star ratings that don’t amount to sht especially on bad coaching staffs ( see bama).
Vernell brown was not gonna single handedly take the gates to the sec chip.
Lagway was all hype.

Boise ain’t sht.
Uf is cheeks.
We are at home. If this is less than a 14 point game then I hope your tickets to Charlotte are refundable.

Playoff teams don’t keep games with non p5 teams close unless it’s a surprise. Notre dame against LIU last year for example.

USF should not be a surprise and this staff and the team leaders should not be blindsided or taking film study lightly.
It’s a team that we had issue with last year and just won their last 2 games where they were underdogs.

But that doesn’t mean that they can walk into a playoff contenders house and keep it close. I get the respect factor. But the talent is nowhere near ours and we have advantages at key positions.

I’ll be there and it better be over before the 4th.

This is nonsense

You ever watch college football before? **** happens every week
Yes it does. But imo it’s usually teams that are slept on cause they are presumed to be cupcakes.
USF isn’t a cupcake. But they barely scored against uf. They played all out. They shouldn’t have the depth or the gas in the tank to go against another and better p5 team on back to back games.

They scored 18 points against a defense that shouldn’t be better than ours.
So unless they’re gonna shut our offense down this shouldn’t be close and it definitely shouldn’t be a shootout.
And if it is, then we got issues that are going to be difficult to fix and exploited by better teams with more mobile qb’s like fspoo.

Miami still doesn’t have championship depth in multiple spots.

DT is one of them. The second team line looked weak.
In all fairness, I think it's pretty safe to say that the definition of championship depth has changed over the last couple of years. There are no more teams hoarding talent on the bench like we saw with Bama and Georgia for years.
