It’s not about how hard he hit him. It’s the movement to get there.
I stand by what I said. These clips are so far away you can’t get a real feel for footwork. Yes, when he gets ahead of steam, he can move. So can a lot of D1 bound OLine men. He has physical gifts, no questioning that. Just don’t think this is the perfect clip demonstrating the ability of the player. Show me the angle he takes when he pulls, show me the balance as he moves in line, show me his hand placement as he kicks back, show me the power in his hands when he engages while kicking back, show me the drive as he moves his progression from down and then up to backer.

Thank you, I will watch and break him down. I will let you know everything, a full scouting report on this kid. If you go back and look at my history, when McLaughlin came here from Douglas, I broke him down and knew there was no chance in **** he would make it. I’m not saying this kid won’t make it, I was solely basing it on the clip. I’ll give you an honest opinion by this evening.

Anyone with two eyes and an idea of how football is played at the LOS knew McLaughlin had no business getting a scholarship to The U.

Watch the Hudl reel. There are some minor things you can nitpick - his pad level is high at times and his hand placement isn’t always perfect. However, I think 85% or more of the snaps in the film result in him pancaking someone. It’s actually really impressive because many of them are blocks where he engages the 2nd or 3rd level defender 5-15 yards downfield and pushes for another 10+ before toppling the other dude. Again, it’s Ervin’s movement at that size that stands out. I would be shocked if you come away unimpressed.
