Hey guys, Tennessee fan here. Huge fan of Jakobe Thomas’ game and was very disappointed when he transferred out but wanted to continue following him because he is a local guy.

I was checking out Miami’s roster for this coming season and didn’t see him listed so I’m just wondering if anyone knows whats going on with this guy and what his status is for the coming season.

None of the spring portal additions are listed on the roster

I heard from another Tennessee fan that he was much improved in coverage during the spring. Do you have any insights into that and his overall ability?

Hand up, forgot he was on the team until this bump
Is he on the team, I never hear anybody mention him and only complaints about safety and how we have nobody. I know they talk about the other kid who transferred #7 I think but never the mention of this kid?

I assume so. I know Miami hasn't updated the roster yet but should soon with summer camp about to start

Maybe because '#7' (Poyser) was a winter transfer that went through spring practice and Thomas was a spring transfer?

He was definitely in position to be in the starting rotation on the backend this year and probably could’ve won the job outright if he had stayed. I think a lot of fans were caught off guard when he left.

I think he is definitely more of a run first defender last year so thats where his game needed to grow the most coming out of last season. I think most of his playing time was in run situations because of his speed getting downhill towards the ball carrier.

Thanks for the info

Well he only signed a couple ago and didn’t get to Miami until last month.

With the new calendar, June is all about recruiting so that is what all the team sites were focused on. Not team S&C workouts.

He slated to start alongside Poyser at safety, once practices start we should get a better idea of how he looks.

This kid scares the **** out of me.

I do think, though, that even if he were to tragically pass away, he'd still be an upgrade from Jaden Harris. But he still scares the **** out of me. We really need this kid to be, at worst, OK.
**** sure couldn’t be any slower than Harris . I never seen such a slow Miami team .

Huge question mark imo. Hits hard, supposedly not super smart (sorry to knock him). There’s a decent chance he gets passed up imo

By who, in the question? IDGAF what the name on the back of the jersey says, may the best man get burn. I have zero data to back this up but my gut still tells me the best defense we can possibly field has OJ, Lucas, and Damari all amongst the 11 out there.

Unclear, idk if day will be ready this season but looks like he has a ton of potential. I still wouldn’t be shocked to see Lucas at safety in some scenarios. Also hard to predict overall outcomes / health but db is a deep room and I don’t think we will see any favoritism this year. Stakes are too high, no more bs. Best guys will play
