Miami Lands Tennessee Safety Transfer JaKobe Thomas

This kid is a perfect for the defense in my view. You need physical safeties who can become a part of the run fit with how much they insert creepers. In the fit is more than just a force role, where you're asked to hold an edge and force a runner back inside. In the fit you become like a fill LB or at the very best a chase player.

Miami now has two of those in Poyser and Thomas. Dylan Day can be a bit more of a specialist this year as he grows into his frame and gets more experience as a box player.

Adding Thomas and the Auburn nickel were perfect fits for a specific role in this defense (along with Toure). You could see exactly what Hetherman was looking to add with each of them.

Haven't seen too many ppl give him his props but dude was out there HITTIN HITTIN. Watching on tv, I couldn't really grade his coverage skills but he is as physical as advertised
I was doing a write up after rewatch and he was one of the first names I was going to mention. It’s so nice to have a big physical safety coming down hill and filling . The physicality is nice.

How could you watch last year safety pllay and feel that way, lol.. I still got ptsd
Yea that's cute but why would I assume these transfers were better than the last? Scott supposedly had at least one good & bad year before coming here so what was I to do with that? Thomas was defensive CJ Daniels. I was just in wait & see mode. Same with Blay. Happy to be pleasantly surprised

This post deserves a bump.
Talk about being spot on. Wow!

And this is why you do what you do. Thank you.

controversial take but he's been the best portal add on defense, imo.
Controversial only because Scott and Toure and Blay have also been really good. What a great problem to have choosing between these 4 in terms of impact. Poyser seems like he is coming on strong as well.
O’Connor and Lucas might also be deserving but it seems like they just haven’t been meaningfully tested yet.

Not controversial at all. He's been the most impactful with Scott a close second, then Toure and Blay. Lucas has been really good too, just haven't heard his name called because they're not testing him in the passing game and there haven't been a lot of long runs where the secondary has to make tackles.

I think Lucas has been our best corner so far. Been absolutely locking down WRs this season. Must not be testing him for a reason

Is it fair to take a bit of a victory lap here? Loved his fit here for these guys.

And that should've excite us that Hetherman knows what he needs and identify it and close it.
