Live Miami Hurricanes @ Notre Dame 11/7/26

And not a criticism of Mensah, but if I’m an NFL team I’m not sure he’s my franchise player

He’s accurate, but if the play is not on schedule he can’t make that up with physical traits and his arm is very average at best

Look I’m thankful he’s here and it sound be great if he came back but the NFL trusts are not high level for a QB

This isn’t your prototype player
Agreed. Made some plays in the second half, but struggled under pressure in the opening half. Just not sure he’s the guy you hand keys to franchise. Not sure Carr is either.

He does not drop it while taking the 3rd step. Still has possession.

Still shots do nothing except expose the poster. He's juggling it there.

Still shots are literally how half the calls in football are made via replay. That’s firm possession, 2 feet down, steps out of bounds with possession. Nowhere does it say you have to tuck the ball away for it to be a catch.

Sadly, shouldn’t be a TD anywhere. Previous play with Upshaw could have been PI. Mensah call probably wasn’t target, but backside defender appeared to have a hand inside his collar as he was going down.
I've watched this call made repeatedly. As in a player gets 2 feet in, just like this one, and hits the ground and drops the ball after, but possession was established with the 2 feet down and control first.

I do know. You have to complete the catch whether it's when you fall to the ground or take another step. This is only a controversy to Miami fans who don't watch football

You have to complete the catch all the way. It got knocked out in the continuation of the play.
Would you think it was a catch if it was a Notre Dame player? Be honest with yourself.
Lol. Everyone keeps saying you have to complete the catch, but nobody can define what that means in the context of being in the end zone. He had control of the ball with one foot down, then a second foot. Wouldn’t that count as a step? What if he lands on both feet but never takes another step. Can the DB come up and knock the ball out 10 seconds later? If not, where’s the cutoff? 3 seconds! 2?

You have valid points. The more I watch the play, the more confused I get.

Everyone is saying make a football move bc they’ve heard it on TV. There’s no football move to be made when you catch it in the end zone. Pure judgement call from the refs as to what constitutes a completed catch on that. Call just didn’t go our way.

Unfortunately, didn’t bring it into his chest & maintain possession long enough.
I’ve seen people catch the ball holding it high in the air away from the DB and never bring it into their body as they get a foot down and then step out of bounds. He didn’t go to the ground, and he’s in the end zone, so there’s no need for a football move. I’d just like to know how the actual rule defines a catch in the end zone that doesn’t go to the ground.

Help me out here

ND is going to move up to say 5 or 6 cause they beat 1 Miami

BYU who beat ND now has 2 losses so they’ll drop now and since Big 12 they’ll be in the 14-15 range

Miami who lost to ND will fall to 10 so why then does each of ND and Miami move exponentially

Not to mention now 2 loss teams are going to be ahead of Miami

There is no criteria it’s all random
