Live Miami Hurricanes @ Notre Dame 11/7/26

That’s not true. You definitely have to control the ball beyond 2 feet down for a TD. But stepping out of bounds I’m not sure sure of
So a receiver jumps up in the end zone, catches the ball with two hands, lands on two feet, and then stands there like a statue for 10 seconds before a defender finally walks over and slaps it out of his hands. No TD?

I’m not trying to be a wise guy, I’d just like someone to articulate the actual rule. What’s control for a TD? 1 second? 3 seconds?

Book it... Talking heads at the E$ECPN will talk about how Miami got exposed, overrated, blah blah.. But if this was this two SEC teams it would be a hard fought game, Miami played tough at South Bend, gritty win by ND, etc...
And will some how try and gaslight everyone as to why Ole Miss should still be in the top 12 after getting obliterated by Georgia.

Hopefully this game wakes up the defense a bit more and the team itself. Kind of how losing to Louisville last year did. Hopefully Miami comes out these last three games and throws 50 burgers on everyone like Pitt. Head into the ACC with Toney (hopefully) and be a little healthier and hungry 1st/2nd round of the playoffs.

How does this apply if he steps out of bounds on his own power?

There’s no football move necessary and he didn’t drop it due to him falling and having to survive contact with the ground.

He caught it with 2 feet in standing up with possession and stepped out of bounds. After his third step touched out of bounds, the play is dead. Ball was punched out afterwards. Would be like if you caught the ball at the goal line with possession, took a 3rd step and broke the plane, and on your next step had the ball punched out.

He dropped it while taking that next step. You'll notice that this isn't controversial to any neutral observers.

He does not drop it while taking the 3rd step. Still has possession.

And not a criticism of Mensah, but if I’m an NFL team I’m not sure he’s my franchise player

He’s accurate, but if the play is not on schedule he can’t make that up with physical traits and his arm is very average at best

Look I’m thankful he’s here and it would be great if he came back but the NFL traits
are not high level for a QB

This isn’t your prototype player

Ok, you tell me. A receiver catches the ball with two hands, no bobbles. Comes down with both feet in the end zone. Does not go to the ground. How much time has to pass before a defender knocks the ball out to be a score?
You have to complete the catch all the way. It got knocked out in the continuation of the play.
Would you think it was a catch if it was a Notre Dame player? Be honest with yourself.

Think the other way

He catches right on goal line and same happens

Has to keep control
