Maybe a stupid statement/question but... How would you react/feel if you were Butch knowing that you're the "fall back" option? Part of me would want to tell them to pound sand and start looking for another gig and kick the crap out of us. Hopefully this is all media BS and I obviously know nothing just a thought. I'm personally in the BBB camp and I hope one of the earlier post a couple of days is accurate and he's in contract talks with us now but who knows..

He's 57 levels about Butch on gameday. Whatever advantage Butch has on him in recruiting would level out after recruits see what Kelly's system does with South Florida skill position talent.

I'll repeat....these 2 are on different levels. There's a reason one is available and one isn't. If Kelly did become available there would be a bidding war the likes of which the college game hasn't seen in a while. There's nobody knocking down Butch's door in any way close to this manner.

I get that some of you have an infatuation with Butch...but you guys need to stop acting like he'd be a sure thing. He's not a great gameday coach and his management style would take time to field a winner. He'd be far from an overnight fix.

That winning tbing is bs, when jimbo took over fsu he was on a losing staff. And he was losing and bringing in mega classes so dont give me that winning ****. It about knowing the recruiting game and relationships

Recruiting hasn't been our main problem around here. Look at our class ranks year and and year out...we're consistently in the top 20. Conversely, when have we finished in the top 20 in final BCS rankings?

The issue is coaching. Plain and simple. There will be an incremental increase in recruiting if we find a good coach that wins. Those top 20 classes will become top 5 classes again and the cycle will start itself over anew.

We need a guy that will WIN. In today's college game where parity is more apparent than ever you need a guy that can play ******* chess on gameday. We've had 3 consecutive staffs full of guys who were average at checkers.

Butch will recruit a Cane type defense. Bama's defense has problems with uptempo offenses because it is complicated and lot of substitution. Our old 4-3 was based on speed and aggression and was simpler with more versatile players. It will be the death of the uptempo and with speed everywhere will be better against the spreads. It will also handle the read option like it did all option attacks, put an end to it.

I think his tenure at UNC says the opposite. That team was loaded with NFL talent.

I've had the same thought. It might be time for his agent to start putting out some not-so-secret feelers toward other openings. Unless, of course, he has some backdoor deal with the BOT; while Flake puts on a dog & pony show (pretending to be relevant to the hiring).

Sean Payton or Chip Kelly fall into that category.

Sean Payton could easily get another HC gig in the NFL. He hasn't been in college in almost 20 years, I doubt he comes back.

I am not sure about Chip Kelly. He may not want to be in the NFL anymore even if he could get another HC gig. Also, his deal with the Eagles began in 2013 and runs for 6 years. If he makes the playoffs, would they really fire him? He still has 3 years left on the deal at around 20MM.
