Miami has inquired about Tom Herman (per CBS Miami)

I just looked at Houston's results this year. They haven't beaten anyone of note, in my opinion.

In thinking about coaches like Urban Meyer... that dude took Utah to a BCS bowl when Utah was in the Mountain West Conference and Utah won that game! Finished 13-0.

Let's slow our roll on Herman. He may well become an elite HC, but it would represent another very risky hire.

Let's get a proven coach - let's get Butch F-ing Davis!

Who did Utah beat of note that year in their first 7 games?

None of these coaches are making any decisions or probably even paying attention to overtures from other schools right now. Their agents are probably putting some feelers out but that's it. UM is more likely than not sitting around deciding which "Miami Guy" to hire.

Texas A&M and Arizona. The Utes went 10-2 in the previous season, with wins over California, Oregon, and Pitt (in the Fiesta Bowl).

Meyer had achieved a lot more prior to being hired by Florida than Herman will have achieved by the end of this season.

I want Herman, but just to answer your question, Utah beat Texas A&M, Arizona and UNC (along with Utah State, Air Force, New Mexico, and UNLV) in their first 7.

We're not hiring Urban Meyer at Utah. We would be hiring Meyer when he was at Bowling Green. You hire Herman if he is the right fit before he becomes a guy that is unattainable because schools with much more money to spend see him as the perfect guy for their school.

A&M finished 7-5 and 4-8 the two years Meyer beat them and Arizona finished 3-8.

I disagree if we are willing to pay up to $4 million per year.
