Miami fan raises $1.5K to fly 'Fire Al Golden' banner at VT

Whoever wasted that money on a banner should have used that money to buy cheap *** tickets and given them to youth kids who couldn't afford going to a game to 1) help those less fortunate, and 2) fill the **** stadium. That is how you support a team and a fanbase.

You obviously have trouble reading. As i have said, i have also lost faith in this coaching staff and would like to start fresh with a new one.....who though and how without losing some of the really good kids we have committed though, i have no clue.

I just think banners are stupid, juvenile and result in more bad than good in respect to the University, perception of the fan base and general effect on recruiting very impressionable young kids.

I'm just curious...can anyone give me an example of a banner actually affecting a coaching change? Just curious.. The only "Fire X" banner I recall was for Butch, and that luckily didn't influence the admin's opinion.

That's where you're wrong.

Teams lose. Sometimes, they go on down-slides for years, decades even. Nobody around the country gets embarrassed for them unless they do something dumb that invites negative national attention.

Not "slurping" on Golden here, nor do I want to continue to accept mediocrity on the field. Just saying that there's a difference between a team on a downslide and a fan base willingly embarrassing itself on national TV a few weeks running.

To put it another way...we've been an embarrassment to CFB for decades because of our pathetic attendance, even when we're winning. All flying this banner does is confirm the national sentiment that UM fans are a bunch of front-running attention whores who who see it as their duty to publicly humiliate the coach of the team that they don't support enough to go to games in the first place.

That is where you're wrong, really ***ing wrong.

As an alum and diehard, I am disgusted at the product on the field. Anyone who is a fan and/or an alum should feel the same way. We're 4 years into this regime, same bull chit as the last regime and the prior regime. We have seen enough and we want it to end ASAP. Nothing else is more important for the program then moving on and hiring the next coach.

We should be embarrassed at the product we have put on the field since 2004. Everything else is utterly irrelevant. Nobody else matters especially the media and whether the people "around the country get embarrassed."

The only reason people are doing these banners is to USE (key word) the media to bring this pressure to those who make decisions. These banners may have little to no effect on the coaching decision but they definitely bring attention to the issue.

For real, if a top coach is between choosing to coach for UM or pretty much any other top 50 college team, he will most likely choose the other team so he doesn't have to chance dealing with our ****ty fans.

Not to mention that we most likely won't be able to offer them top dollar like the other programs, so why would they ever come here?

Maybe so, but it certainly didnt help matters. The crap record, the loss at home to South Florida, the 15,000 fans in attendance, the banner, etc-- they were all factors IMO.

And we will be glad when he chose those other teams. Means he is a loser that knows he's going to fail and his looking for the security of no pressure when he does. People make the best and most life changing decisions when they are under pressure and back against the wall.
