Miami fan raises $1.5K to fly 'Fire Al Golden' banner at VT

these teams get quite a laugh as is when they walk into the stadium and its empty--no reason to give them more laughs

Stop with these pesky facts. Not only does UM pay its corches, but we overpay them. No way a slug like Folden belongs in that stratosphere.

"Give the People What They Want"! A new head coach. To the idiots who think that public discord and protest (ie, flying banner) doesn't create change, then they need a history class. The fans have just as much right to express themselves by not attending and calling publicly for the coach to be fired as the administration has to keep him as head coach. The will of the masses always prevails.

So if golden sells his soul and wins the rest of the games sans say a close loss to fsu, do u think the will of the masses will prevail? Fans have wanted him out for a couple of years now and yet he still had the job. When he gets fired it will be because he sux at coaching.

Let's not act too self-righteous and patriotic about this.

Obviously you have the right to fly a banner. And obviously you have the right to protest by not attending games if you want to. No one said otherwise.

The questions are A) whether exercising those rights is the best use of your time and money, B) whether exercising those rights will ultimately get the desired results.

The answers to those questions are up for debate. People flew banners when Butch Davis was here and it didn't get him fired...so you gotta kinda wonder if they'll affect the change you want.
 
Whoever wasted that money on a banner should have used that money to buy cheap *** tickets and given them to youth kids who couldn't afford going to a game to 1) help those less fortunate, and 2) fill the **** stadium. That is how you support a team and a fanbase.

Spending money on a banner is stupid. You don't think people can see what's going on without needing a banner to inform them? You really think a banner will have ANY impact on what they do? Please......

Gee, this restaurant has horrible food. Maybe if I just keep dining here, and giving them my money, they will make the necessary improvements to the establishment.

No, standing outside in the parking lot with a $1500 blinking neon sign makes more sense. The idea of one or a few angry customers will surely make the owners close up shop or change their ways. Most people and/or business are open to feedback or criticism.....when properly done. Most people don't respond well to personal attacks or displays of idiocy, which is what too many fans resort to these days.

Oh yeah.......customers can always eat somewhere else if they don't like the food. I would love nothing more than to start fresh with one of a few different coaches out there right now, but my opinion in writing or on a banner means nothing to those in charge of making that decision.

Protests and written feedback are a large and effective tool of political activism. Terrible example.

The administration will notice the banners flying at away games. That's just flat out embarrassing. Even more embarrassing than the beatdowns.

Hey Miami thanks but no thanks.... these type of actions only cement our Rep as a awful fan base...... don't think so check out our awful attendance at Dolphin stadium.Golden will succeed or fail on his own merits with or w/o the banners

I'm just curious...can anyone give me an example of a banner actually affecting a coaching change? Just curious.. The only "Fire X" banner I recall was for Butch, and that luckily didn't influence the admin's opinion.
