Miami adds Texas transfer kicker Bert Auburn to the 2025-26 roster

I guess in the 4 years Mario has been here it was too much to ask for a good kicker.

This take is a big concern.
I’d say it’s a concern that he didn’t have anyone ready to take over Borregales as this Texas kicker is horrible. This guy being the best option is utterly ludicrous.

It's going to be extremely difficult going from the Borregales brothers to this guy. However, I think we need to be a little realistic about the situation though as you don't normally have an automatic kicker every season. This kid is perfect on XP and his percentage inside 40 looks pretty good. He did have a rough season last year. Hopefully he'll turn it around and return to form from two seasons ago. It's mental for a lot of kickers and the change of scenery could be a good thing for him.

Probably going to send Auburn out on XPs and anything under 40 yards, maybe up to 45. Then the FIU kid will take the 45+ attempts.

My assumption. Maybe not. He was pretty good from any range in 2023.

That sounds logical. I believe our expectations are a little over the top as I mentioned having 4 straight years of outstanding kickers. Hopefully we're not having to kick a large amount of long FGs. That would tell me that our offense isn't moving the ball very well.

He kicks 58% from behind the 40 yard line.

0-2 from beyond 50+ yard line last year.

Not clutch. Doesn’t have a strong leg. And now expecting him to mentally rebound after a horrible year.
The comment "bert auburn sucks" refers to Texas Longhorns kicker Bert Auburn's struggles, particularly his performance in the Peach Bowl and his subsequent benching for the CFP semifinal Cotton Bowl. Auburn missed two crucial field goals in the Peach Bowl, and his overall kicking percentage significantly dropped in 2024 compared to previous seasons. Following his poor performance and the news of his benching, he announced his intent to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Last year we barely needed Borregales

This year we are gonna be kicking a lot more field goals and we got this guy

Sometimes I wonder what we did to deserve this
Agreed. Add the fact that we did not upgrade at all with the front 7 on defense. Our new secondary isn’t going to beat ND when they’re pounding the ball.

We can’t get out of own way.

I’m just waiting for the year when we take all positions personally at the same time

So enamored with ND.. as if they have all Americans at every position and have no weak spots lol.

We had no chance last time they came to town either. Then… we all know what happened. Buzzsawed. With Malik ******* rosier at QB. 41-8.

Can’t wait to see your posts after we shove them week 1.

Anything beyond 40 yards, go for it or punt....cause that dude will miss it.

Can you name any kicker on any other team besides Gramatica at USF? Lol. College kickers almost always suck ****. We were blessed with the Borregales brothers. That being the expectation is a lot to ask unfortunately. Kickers are their own thing. Abram Murray was the 5th ranked kicker coming out of HS doesn't mean ****.

This dude from Texas if we didn't have Borregales last year, people would have liked as the addition. He has never missed a PAT, his So yr made 80% of his kicks and jr yr made 82%. No question dude sucked this past year...

Jose made 83% 77%, then 73% as a jr with 3 missed PATs at FIU before coming here and hitting 90%.

Andres was elite for us, only ever missed 1 PAT in 4 yrs, and hit 81%, 85%, 85%, then capped it off with 94% of his kicks this year... Expecting that would honestly be ludicrous. Again college kickers usually suck balls and will miss random kicks.

Sounds like a good strategy to me. At least he makes his PATs
