Miami 7-8 defenders near LOS Nebraska

Even if that deep pass early backed us off on intermediate downs, why did we have two safeties deep on every 3rd and short?

Lets just say you had to make the choice of suffering a slow death (350 rushing yards) or quick one (passing game), you choose passing every time with an option quarter back. A few years back GT had a ton of passing plays early in the year go for long TDs because teams were willing to live with a "chance" passing game. They got lucky but it didn't last.

Defense 101 against the option. Dare them to pass and if they beat you once, you dare them to do it again and again. They threw it 13 times I think completing 9 passes and an INT.......anyone that thinks we should have dropped those safeties because of their aerial attack is a moron.
 
No adjustment. That was plan from the start. Make the Nebraska offense go on long, multiple play drives, if they are going to score. He does this by knowing Nebraska will run the ball nearly every play, but hoping his defense is up to the task to tackle and get the Nebraska offense off the field.

Prior to Sat this offense hadn't shown the consistency of execution to go on long, multiple play time consuming scoring drives. They shoot selves in foot with poor play, turnovers and penalties.

This isn't Tom Osborne or Frank Solich calling plays who will continue calling runs into 7-8 man fronts. Tim Beck will throw the ball over your head if defenses stack the line with 7-8 in box.
 
The efforts that some will go to in order to rationalize and make excuses for the coaches is very disturbing.

Are you serious with this crap? So your defense is the hypothetical passing attack? So take the known: They are running it down our throats......and allow that to continue because you fear the hypothetical?

Riiiiiight. Let's just let them give the ball to there best player and hope we can tackle him instead of forcing a run first to teak to throw the ball. Only with this staff man lmao
 
This isn't the Nebraska option offense of Tom Osborne or Frank Solich. They actually have wr's to run routes and catch the ball, not just be permimeter downfield blockers.

Tommy Armstrong was offered by Oregon and is much more fundamentally sound throwing the ball, only 11 starts in as a So then any other dual threat Nebraska qb. And he has a cannon for a right arm.

Is he perfect, heck no. Still learning to play the game at this level.

Man Look... it was a blown Coverage... Ok we get it. BUT to play call you defense because you are scared of this happening again shows me that you have ZERO confidence in your DBs (who is supposed to be the strength of the D BTW).

Coach D's theory on D sucks for our offense because the margin off error/pressure of Scoring on EVERY one of our drives becomes greater, due to our defense is playing on Skates giving up 4 yrs a pop, have the opposition eat up 7-8 min on the clock and then resulting in a Score!!!

All because this dude is playing a reactionary style...

I'm sorry ... Say what ever you want about the guy.... Jon Tenuta would have our team Blitzing the **** out of Teams off the ******* plane. We might give up the long bomb occasionally - but with our Offense, i like that we would be able to win most games by 2 possessions due to the fact that Tenuta would be able to get the ball back to the our Offense more times than Coach D ever could.

For the Record - I don't want Tenuta.. just saying his style fits our athletes..

It was a bush blitz and a very easy to spot (not disguised well at all). And naturally, with our mess of a defense, there was an even bigger hole where there would already be a hole.

This logic to justify this defense is laughable. It's the "see what happens when you play aggressive?" Logic is silly. As if the only other option on a play where you blitz is to give up a long ball.

Its unbelievable at this point. Our two deep is filled with guys that will play on Sundays.

How in the world did McNeese state do it? They must have Nick Saban on their sideline.
 
The Nebraska OC did what he was supposed to. Try and burn us long so we can play on our heels the rest of the game knowing this staff can't/won't make adjustments. You won't play another gift wrapped defense like this the rest of the year. Congrats.

the long pass is a higher degree of difficulty vs the run and at this point its looking like Kaaya is the real deal(dont keep him on the bench getting gutted with the run), so at this point, being the clusterphuck situation where u would have to pick a way to get scored on, yes, I would give up the pass by going man to man with one deep safety, and challenge teams to beat me over the top, especially if its a guy like armstrong
