Mesidor, a third-year sophomore who transferred from West Virginia, was the “best defensive player on the field” in Miami’s season-opening victory over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, coach Mario Cristobal said Monday.
“The thing that probably goes unnoticed is how much he applied his technique, almost to a clinic tape,” Steele said. “You could take many clips out of that and put it on the clinic tape and go on a speaking tour — ‘This is how we how play this and this is how we play that.’
“It was very, very impressive.”
