Most running backs do not want 25+ touches a game in college. Duke, Portis, etc. Doesn't matter if we are 12-0 or 6-7, 25+ touches per game puts an enormous amount of pain on your body
No one can produce a single shred of evidence against those guys cause it doesn't exist. Is it a surprise that a head coach that lacks accountably and points the finger at everyone and everything else, has his players doing the same. Al golden is a cancer to the program to the kids playing for him and to the school.A guy like Ereck Flowers is being called out for "selfishness" but that kid never came out of the game. Everyone on that line loved E. because he busted his *** and always stayed in the game. You didn't hear the commentators say he got injured but a teammate told me he was injured the minute he saw him off the field. He got injured but still came back right away to help the team. If anything, his drive to get better to make the NFL helped the team more than hurt if that is what considered "selfish" nowadays.
Chickillo's sacrifices has been mentioned countless times. Feliciano, McDermott, Walford, etc. not sure how anyone can say their actions were selfish. I understand the team may be "closer" this year. But I'm not sure how all these NFL players (who were the most productive players for us besides Bush and Kaaya) hurt us ON THE FIELD with their selfishness. No one has explained that to me because it can't be explained. Clearly by their production and hustle, their selfishness didn't manifest onto the field.
The staff would never say it, but Eric Flowers would have been at the top of the list, followed closely by Duke Johnson.
This is the new excuse for '15. We're a "team" this year so the fans should buy in. I'm not buying in. Good coaches win with good talent. Bad coaches lose with good talent. Period.

I don't think we're going to any games this year. As I read these things and reflect on our personal experience with Golden, I can't say I want to come down this season.
I'm disgusted by this. Duke a "Me" guy? Chick? Phillip? I watched these "Me" guys all but adopt Carter last season. Duke and his mother are the ONLY ones that kept up with Carter post make a wish. Not Golden, not Blake, not Donna, NOBODY but the "Me" guy and the his "loud mouthed" mom. Harry from AllCanes checked in but I don't count him as part of UM per se.
Then TheDude tried to slander me to turn me into what he was told, into a "Me" guy because of my comments post FSU.
I've never been so ticked about UM as I am right now. Have a ton of love for guys like Tracy, and Chad, who still reside on the team, and want to support them in person, but I'm beside myself right now.
Pathetic.
Golden is the fakest mother fvcker in college football.
His time at Miami is the last chance he'll ever have to cash big paychecks and he's showing what a scumbag he is, throwing kids under the bus and trashing their character to excuse his failures.
I know SMD reads these boards. Mrs. Susan, please ask Golden how Carter is doing, and when was the last he spoke with Carter or his family. I know the answer obviously, but what would be exposed, is who the real "Me" guy is.
So because Golden opened up the team to Carter and your family at some point and brought them to practices or whatever else, he is a bad guy because he doesn't continue to do so and doesn't continue to communicate with your family? Many programs and coaches wouldn't have done any of that in the first place, so they already went above and beyond what most programs do. There are hundreds of terribly sick children out there, should all of the families that the UM coaches don't keep tabs on be upset with them as well, or be upset because they chose to spend time with your family and not theirs? That Duke has formed a special relationship with Carter and has maintained that is wonderful, and a great reflection on Duke. That the coaching staff didn't maintain the relationship isn't a negative reflection on them.

Duke didn't average 25+ touches per game. It happened 4 times in his junior season. The South Carolina game the most egregious considering everything involved in that game.
Clinton hit that mark 3 times in 11 games in 2001. Including 40 touches at BC. It happens. I don't think Portis had a problem with it. Probably because we were in the middle of undefeated season. 35 touches against Virginia Tech later in the year. The game matters and he wanted the rock. If we're 6-4 at Virginia Tech, I don't think Portis would be all that happy either
I play running back, I don't want to play for Barry Alvarez! He gave guys the ball 40 times a game ... I don't want the ball 40 times a game! I don't want the ball 30 times a game. I wanted to try and get 100 yards on the least amount of carries possible and be out of the game.

Agreed.
I think that Flowers and Duke just lost respect for the coaches, with cause. Flowers got hurt against VT, stayed in, had surgery during the bye week, and mauled FSU a week later. If that's a me-guy, I want 21 more of those me-guys.
Duke was the model of "the Process" when he was a freshman. Did something change between his freshman and junior years? Maybe, but he still hit the weights, improved his speed every year, and broke rushing records. Seems like his Process was working for him.

If the players quit after FSU it's cause they quit on golden. Had nothing to do with being a "me" guy or any of that other bull****. The coaches had already cost the players 3 games up until that point. I don't blame them for quitting, golden has lost the players every single season he's coached at Miami. Without fail at some point the players have thrown in the towel. That's not a players issue that's a head coach and staff issue.

Why are you telling me what I just told you? Lol. You stated "So Duke wanted less carries" after I said he didn't want to go over 25+. Clearly, he can't want less carries if he never averaged 25 carries per game

You're missing the point here. I've been searching for the quote, but he was slated as saying that he would keep in contact, and I was asked pre Cincinnati in the interview about him saying that. He's never done it at all. They were upset at me saying we were family, and what I did wasn't what family does to each other.
What family doesn't check in on sick family?
Shouldn't family keep promises?
Isn't him calling out last year's players airing family business too?
Open your eyes man. Those are only a few questions. He shouldn't be doing things like this.
If it's really family, you keep these things in house.
Keeping the lines of contact open doesn't necessarily mean he is going to be the one doing the contacting. Did you contact them after that? Not saying he did or didn't, but it sounds like you are trying to hold them to the standard that Duke set, which is going way above and beyond the call of duty.
Also, at no point did he mention Duke being one of the "me" guys on the team, nor did the various other current players who have made similar statements about players giving up. So I have no idea whether Duke is even one of those they were talking about.
As for "calling out last year's players....that is done by many coaches. I've seen direct quotes from Meyer, Saban, many others pointing out that there were elements in the team that were a problem to team chemistry, and stating that the team in a particular season is much better off chemistry-wise than the year before after some players moved on (Saban even used the "energy vampires" term to refer to some of those players). At no point were specific players named nor did they say that it was every player that left, but that there was a very real locker room problem and team chemistry problem with a subset of players is something that has been stated many times by players as well as the coaching staff.
