McCormick Usage

Agreed…Maybe it’s his age idk , I just naturally expect a 25 year old TE to be more dominant . Ready for Arroyo to reach his potential an bring Williams along with him

He can be a useful player in certain situations but why is this dude on the field every play? Dawson even has him splitting out wide at times running routes lol. Get our speed guys on the field. More Brashard and Ray Ray. I'd even like to see Chris Johnson get some snaps in a 2 back look showing some creativity. Incredibly frustrating.
Facts and idc if Skinner doesn't block he needs to be utilized. His speed and athleticism needs to be put on display. Using the middle of the field would make things easier since that would be another element being used.

Personnel decisions have been questionable all year. Cam McCormick logging 71 snaps in a P5 football game in 2023 is a total joke. Same goes for Brashard finally being a focal point 6 games in. Arroyo has to start taking Williams snaps. Williams isn’t even close to ready outside of our S&C staff inflating him up like a balloon

**** of a win last night but offensive personnel decisions have been frustrating.

Because he’s the best blocking TE we have period. Both in run and pass

84 has been the most consistent blocker we’ve had at that position since idk…even on Colby 3/8 conversion he chipped and put the guy on his ***..he’s been absolutely a god send this season in the run game

Then why recruit the like of Skinner and Riley who are built like WRs
Because our fans create these dumbass narratives and hold on to them tighter than they did their dates on prom night. No logic or supporting evidence required, just create a narrative out of thin air and run with it. Mario isn't sitting here dictating to Dawson what he should do, he may want to see some things, but he isn't going to spend this much time recruiting difference making TEs, just to NOT use them.

There's multiple reasons why TEs haven't been getting the attention they once did. Some of it is TVD not looking for them, some of it is injuries(Arroyo) and some of it is that the youngsters haven't earned PT, especially Skinner who is a terrible blocker. I think that as Arroyo gets healthier and Williams develops, McCormick will see fewer snaps. That said, he is a valuable blocker and that comes in handy, especially when playing a team like Clemson, where you have multiple guys that can create havoc.

Why can't Skinner learn to block? All it takes is effort and mentality, and it's the TE's job to be able to do both (block AND catch) at a high level

Dawson used the TE plenty at Houston, he literally started out as the TE’s Coach when he first got there.
He used the TE at Southern Miss & at West VA.

He’s not using it here at Miami because Mario has placed the emphasis on the run game being the staple of the offense, therefore, the TE has been relegated to primary Blocking duty.

Yep. Mario is killing us.

He’s bunching the box too much and putting slow boulders like McCormick on the field, because he wants to be a strong, physical Death Star running team that just stuffs it down your throat.

In the end all that does is create too many negative plays and makes it so everything has to be perfect on every play because you’re 4 and 5 yarding your way down field.
