Seems like Jimbo is trying to play matchups. Hopefully Steele gets after this kid early. Maybe steal a cheap TO early and get the game on our side early.
 
Max doesn't move really well. Career rushing stats at LSU 78 attempts for -41 yards and 1 TD. Also is prone to fumble. NEED to get pressure on him early to rattle his confidence ... get a turnover and score. 50% passer (225/373) 2815 yards, 27 TDs and 6 int. Let's see what Steele can dial up.
 
Max Johnson is a very average qb, but he has experience. For the most part, Miami has run basic defensive sets. It makes sense considering the first two opponents. I'm assuming Jimbo has concerns that Miami will bring different types of pressure and, with the way their oline struggled, Jimbo thinks King will turnover the ball.

I'm hoping Miami brings pressure with different blitz packages, hard pressing the corners, etc. I'm not overly concerned with Max Johnson beating us deep. If he does, then good on him. But I don't want him to control the game by giving him and his receivers time to find space underneath and move the ball. Punch everyone in the mouth.

So it is the same nephew. I've never seen him play at this level, he looks the part, but I thought he sucked in high school. To the point I was amazed that he got any big offers at all. Guess we'll see what he got.

Jimbo is looking for a game manager atp. King didn’t play well but he was turning the ball over. They really haven’t gotten achane involved much and I think they are going to give him a lot of touches early
 
With Miami's contain issues I'm shocked they're not going with the running QB. I honestly think they could gash us with a mobile QB.

Am I missing something? How on god’s green earth is this man being calles “mobile”?

He led Lsu to 6-6, lost the starting job to an actual pinhead at TexAm, now gets 4 days of reps with the 1’s before playing his first game in a new/bad Jimbo offense in a must win game in front of 108k fans that will boo the moment things go sideways.

Annihilate this kid in the pocket. Make him see ghosts. Break his legs. Have King come back in to a living nightmare.

It would be interesting to see if the scrub/backup QBs were playing because of injury to the starter or if it was because the starter was pulled. Sometimes you have a talented backup behind a talented starter, so the backup isn't going to get many reps. However, when a starter is so bad he ends up getting benched, it doesn't generally speak all that well of the backup that couldn't beat out the starter. Every once in a while it works and those stories get all the media hype, but you don't read media articles about the vast majority of the situations where a bad starter gets benched and is replaced by a bad backup who couldn't win the starting job.

Right! We have 4 years of film from Ivey. He is what he is.

I'll also add that he's a horribly inconsistent tackler. He blew a 1x1 tackle in the southern miss game. Two things you can come to expect from him - inconsistent coverage play and subpar tackler. Yet we have nobody to replace him.
