Correct. He's a one trick pony at this juncture. However, his one trick might be pretty special, and it would be nice for him to get his feet wet at LT and see where it leads. If a fat, out of shape version of Markel Bell was allowed to play LT in 2024 with Jalen Rivers at LG, then why the reluctance in 2026?

Probably because Bell was still a lot more developed as a pass blocker than Cantwell is at the moment. Playing in a run oriented offense really hampered his development in that regard.

But remember when everyone was sure Cantwell would be the starter at LT from about March-August?

Unfortunately haven't heard a peep about it - kid looks big and is in his 3rd/4th year. I was hoping for more from him.

Someone else has to step up at T and/or G. Another T stepping up means they could kick McCoy inside and bench SJ.

Agreed. There are plenty of options at guard among SJ, Meriweather, Pickett, and Woodrow. All of them have showed some signs at different times. We will be fine there. At tackle we just have to hope the light turns on for Cantwell at some point so we can have even minimal depth. Meriweather is definitely does not appear to be the answer there.

We are screwed if Samson or McCoy go down. I peed when I saw McCoy down in pain.

I love what I saw from SJ late in the 4th tho. Some of the nicest blocks all year TBH.

Could be a doghouse issue we don’t know about as well. But he doesn’t seem like that kind of fella. Could be banged up as well. It’s a mystery at this point.
