Maurice Smith Alabama DB transfer

Sorry guys the fact that we are gushing over an alabama scrub senior who couldnt get playing time over freshman..it just really irks me..How far have we fallen mane? Damit mane!!

He was going to start this year. Bama has at least 6 5 star cornerbacks. We have had 1 of those in the past decade.

Why you arguing with a dope? Bama took grad transfer Jacob Coker, who was a career back-up at FSU, started him and won a national title. Every school in the nation is going to take a quality grad student to fill an area of need if available. By all accounts this kid was going to start for Alabama this year at least in nickle, which means he was going to be on the field a lot. He helps us immediately.

Vern isn't a dope, he's just stuck in the glory days. Hopefully Brother Richt brings us back to those days.

Sure he is. A kid was going to start at nickle for the defending national champions is a "scrub" in his book. FSU brought in Everett Golston who lost his starting position at Notre Dame as a grad transfer. They needed a quarterback. This is the new trend. No program is perfect. If a quality transfer is out there and it fills a need then you take a serious look. Right now Miami needs big, experienced corners.

Since he obviously has not enrolled, what would be the earliest date for him to get on campus? With that said, will he have time to learn the playbook and be ready for the start of the season?

This is a home run one year pick up at position that needed exactly this.

****** **** we took Mike Williams the last time we needed CB depth..... let that sink in

Think of Alabama as Leo Decaprio, and think of Smith as one of the supermodels he's sick of plowing. You turning down Leo's Leftovers?

I was gonna say the longer he goes without signing with Miami the less likely it is for him to end up here. The more Saban and his staff works him the less likely I'd think it was for him to end up here. Hopefully it's all but a formality now.

I was thinking about this and realized that since he is coming as a grad transfer if he is not really interested in earning a masters degree from UM but rather just getting on the field to provide more film for the NFL scouts, then him waiting until fall camp makes sense to a degree. This way smith i believe only actually has to take 2 grad classes (4 credits each) in the fall to remain eligible meeting the ncaa 6 credit minimum.

Arriving late will however shorten his bonding time with the team and sharpen his learning curve for the defensive play book. But then again he is coming to do a job and move on. It will be interesting to potentially hear the current comparison between Bama and UM's program from a player perspective.

Lol apples and oranges...Everett Golston started for a top team and won multiple games as a starter..This guy Maurice SMith only played when a starter got hurt for a few games and the real backup (tony Brown) was suspended..and then he went back to the bench... If you call a guy having to wait untill his senior year to start at nickel who is 6'ft tall 195 pounds a baller I dont know what to tell you... he doesnt have nickel size he should be starting on the outside..besides my Bama people told me they only projected him to start at nickel to try to keep him there for depth..I was also told TOny Brown was ahead of him in the depth chart but he kep geetting suspended and therefore Maurice SMith got promoted...If Tony Brown wasnt a k nuckle head Maurice SMith would never play at Bama... True enough he has to be better then Henley or Mayes.... I am complaining that some of you [****gots think he is better then Elderand Redwine and you have no proof this is the case...Oh eya the proof is HE's From Bama!!! lol

Im gonna forgive you guys because its the off season but please realize you guys *** off every transfer we receive no matter how ****** they are..its amazing

why anybody is upset about the pickup is beyond me....We are 1 injury away from Terrance Henley getting meaningful snaps. We need depth guys.

Not upset about the pick up..he is better then Henley and Mayes...upset about the fact we are acting like this guy is Prime Deion when we have no evidence he is better then Redwine

Smith was working with the first unit last season in a loaded secondary full of 5* recruits. He battled through shoulder injuries maybe that had something to do with losing the job?... "obviously" this is a case where there is a stable full of highly touted dB's to choose from....when you have it like that..... it's the next man up.... you don't really lose much when back ups enter the game...this spring Smith was on a first team D that held the O to 3 pts..... ( no disrespect) Redwine got cooked all spring....that alone should be enough to understand why cane fans believe Smith is better...

He's not good because Tony Brown, who would be the most talented CB on our roster was slated to start over him? Your logic is ******.

No three corners on the team were better then him ... And he was older then all of them and had more coaching and experience in alabamas scene and still got beat out... I don't care what anybody says the 4th n@best corner at bama is not the best corner at Miami....

If the 3rd best corner at Alabama (I dont care about what if some guy wasnt a knuckle head crap, we can play that game with any team in the nation) ends up being the 2nd best corner here would that not make this a very valuable pick up? Its also possible he ends up the third best corner here which would mean a lot of playing time with all the nickle and dime packages teams run nowdays. Still, its a great pick up and nothing to whine about.

Every team has weaker positions then others and can use help with depth somewhere, even your beloved FSU. So what if our weakest position can make use of a projected nickle starter from one of the strongest units on the national championship team. It seams like every single person in this thread gets that except one.

I get it...I dislike the crowning of this guy when he has done absolutely nothing in his career so far....can you not understand? Most high profile guys from Bammy are off to the NFL in 3 years... this guy hasnt even played..
