Maurice Smith Alabama DB transfer

One actually played for a championship team and the other only played special teams for a 8-5 team. Seniors vs Sophomore. One was coached by Paul Williams and the other coaches by Saban. I really like Redwine but right now I'm sure the facts day Smith is better right NOW.

What facts??... Last I looked Maurice SMith had no interceptions 1 pass defended and what 5 or 6 tackles that werent from special teams all of last year which happened to be his junior year... Im not saying i dont want him, but I am saying my **** aint gettin hard for this dude... I dont even like Redwine and Im not sure this dude is better then him....Ill wait for some famous grentree reports before i bust a nut, you know thosegreentree reports always hold truth

the best scenario for us is for Redwine and Elder to hold back both these transfers and have them compete for for nickel and backup cb with Jackson,Mayes and Henley.Last thing we want is for these career backups to come in and take over in a just a few weeks.

How far have we fallen? Pretty **** far in case you haven't noticed. Yes, Alabama backups would start here, it's been that way for almost the past decade.

It's been a combination of poor coaching and poor recruiting. We need depth right now at CB. This guy is a take without thinking twice.

We lose bush, burns, howard, crawford.

our fans still wonder if safety / corner hybrid is a take who was under Saban for 3 years

smh

How could anyone complain about this? This is great news.

Seriously. Everyone knew that the secondary depth was thin and that Golden did a crap job in recruiting the secondary where we basically had Elder, Redwine, Jackson, and Mayes as corners that were returning. I'm all for adding depth to this unit.

The only thing that im liking from this is depth at a position that has very little talent, some may not like him but we need him here

You have to excuse Vern, he's been too busy with Shavar to notice just how bad Al left the cb situation...

I was gonna say the longer he goes without signing with Miami the less likely it is for him to end up here. The more Saban and his staff works him the less likely I'd think it was for him to end up here. Hopefully it's all but a formality now.

I was thinking about this and realized that since he is coming as a grad transfer if he is not really interested in earning a masters degree from UM but rather just getting on the field to provide more film for the NFL scouts, then him waiting until fall camp makes sense to a degree. This way smith i believe only actually has to take 2 grad classes (4 credits each) in the fall to remain eligible meeting the ncaa 6 credit minimum.

Arriving late will however shorten his bonding time with the team and sharpen his learning curve for the defensive play book. But then again he is coming to do a job and move on. It will be interesting to potentially hear the current comparison between Bama and UM's program from a player perspective.

Go Canes
