Off-Topic Mass killings

When you're baker acted your weapons are not taken away from you unless you are carrying at that moment.... If the weapons are in your home they'll stay in your home.... Obviously if you're being Baker acted for a suicide attempt and that attempt is with a gun the gun will be confiscated .... How and when it's returned is debatable...
When I worked in drug treatment we had quite a few people Baker acted due to Mental issues but thankfully none had weapons involved....
It's still different than making Death threats and things of that nature towards the public at large... I have no problem with taking away weapons and banning those from having weapons that venture into that category.... As well as having those people put under psychiatric care immediately....
What is your solution for the situation where a young person, say 20 years old, tries to kill themselves, gets Baker Acted, is treated and then lives 20 years of normal life. Do they get their guns back? Ten years, 5 years, one year? That is why I chose "cured"................

My post clearly stated how and when is debatable... Situations vary so it's hard to say...

We are so screwed up. Did away with state mental institutions - where I realize there were problems - but at least it was A solution, but without those - there's nothing left for a lot of folks who are truly batsh*tt nuts.

Aways with the guns - the ONLY thing that's going to enable this citizenry to reverse adverse events - and the ONLY nation in the world with such an ability. Eveyone else can just suck on whatever their governments decide to dish out. Or rather, those who OWN those in government -

The title of this thread - I will stand amazed if we don't have waves and waves of mass killings and what is termed terrorist attacks, in the next 13 months with all these invaders - coming in from our Southern borders - so many single, military age men. Given debit cards - with the blessing of the UN and the Biden Administration. To wait for the word.

If everyone is ducking to stay alive, it sure takes your mind off the corruption that is DC as they are being exposed and they are about to get blown out of their current gig. So they have nothing to lose - if they lose their positions and control - they want to bring the whole thing down.

I never could understand Hitler as his nations was destroyed saying words to the effect of, "We deserved to be destroyed - out people deserve to be destroyed after being defeated." We have leaders with the same mindset.

Nuts. Lack of Law Enforcement. Crooked national leaders. About to be exposed. Hundreds of thousands of foreign sappers and terrorists inside, supported and waiting for the time to act. Cheapest method of destruction EVER.

A hundred men on the inside can destroy more than a thousand men from the outside in one tenth of the time.

Every government has had to go to war with it's people - and every people has had to go to war with its government. Here in the US, a young nation - we've already done so twice. Over far less than what's happening now. Hail, our government can't even tell men from women - a sure sign it's gone over the edge - deep into a state of insanity.

It appears these periodic douches, or ene-ma's are a necessity to rid and cleanse a diseased condition - that's reached the point of insanity.

you do know that ~ 30M have crossed the border in the past 30 years yet NOW we're supposed to see waves of mass killings and terrorist attacks? What's changed?

If you haven't already noticed - telling you something won't matter.

Was hoping something substantive.

There's been a drastic change in the border crossing folks country of origin, and a good number of those on international terror lists are being caught - which doesn't count those thousands and thousands who aren't.

More from African nations, a good number from Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, China, on and on. Nations that don't like the USA - and it's not families - it's single, military age males.

It's all available from numerous sources if you wish to read the reports - and it's going on wholesale.

I don't do substantive - that's for others to search and learn, as I really don't have the time.

No need to dig up - you're just parroting Fox news scare tactics talking points. You're referring to an infinitesimally small number of people (maybe in the 100s or possibly 1000s and of those border crossings, maybe in the 10s of people that deserve extra scrutiny). There are far more terror watch list people coming in through Canada than they are through Mexico.

Even so, this has been going on for several years. Where are the subsequent waves of mass shootings/killings/etc of these folks?

And btw, I'm an advocate of maintaining tight immigration standards and am supportive of significant immigration reform.

Love the USA, but I grew tired of the "Right to have a gun." It's one if the worst things in the Constitution. I now live overseas.

Most countries don't have gun problems the way we do. For our neighbors to the north, gun violence is far less because owning a gun isn't a right. You act up criminally or mentally and your ability to legally own a gun is taken away.

A 2019 study of violence with guns shows the rate of gun violence per 100,000 people. The USA was 3.96 per 100k while Canada was 0.47 per 100k. As a percentage, you are 840% more likely to experience gun violence in the USA than Canada.

Are we so different as a people from our neighbors to the north? Yes.

Canada has a different culture when it comes to guns. They view gun ownership as something for hunting animals not people.

Like football, guns in the USA are part of the culture. Like continuous bad behavior on the football field, you're either coaching it or accepting it and we do both.

You have to factor that the US also has a population that is almost 9x of Canada.... The statistical value is different by that metric.... As posted by some of us here we agree that guns/ gun rights should be taken away from individuals who show behavior to warrant it...

It does. Nearly 4/100k per US and 0 5/100k for Canada experience gun violence. Your over 8 times more likely to experience gun violence in the US.

Look at it another way. If you live in a US city of 100k people, 4 will experience gun violence. You would have to live in a city in Canada of over 800,000 to have the same level of gun violence as the 100k US city.

I also believe our gun violence rates are even higher as violence not involving fatalities may go unreported.

It's our mentality along with our laws that are the problem.

I must have ****ed you off. If you're lazy, you're just lazy - not my fault. If you're also uninformed - that's your fault as well. I want nothing to do with lazy or stupid. Those are personal characteristics that I hold in contempt during my waking hours.

I haven't seen a minute of Feaux News in two years - so your pizz-poor assumption is way out in the woods. That's all you got? Ooooooh. That really hurts . . . nah - I suppose in your world - that's supposed to be an insult. It appears I'm years ahead of you, and I haven't seen Fox News in at least two years.

You're grasp of how things work in the dirty jobs business is miniscule - your numbers are way off, and a clandestine operation of any significance doesn't happen quickly. That's not how things work.

Those you want to take up positions in another country for an operation do so low level. They go to their primary operations area, and they take their time learning everything they can about each target, best ingress and egress from said targets - as well as quick, concealed paths to the next target - and the next.

Your dreamland waves of attacks, mass shootings/killings you assume should have already manifest?

You obviously don't know how these things work - I'll try to give some reality - perspective here. You don't want a series of attacks - a few here - a few there. Each time, security measures will be taken in locations you didn't hit - and that somewhat neutralizes future events.

You want a coordinated, simultaneous overloading of counter-resources. First things - cut communications and power, hit water supplies for the larger cities - and even drop some bridges. You overload all opposition assets.

In days, that city is on the brink. No water - folks have to depopulate. Other cities won't be sending water as they have the same problems. Chaos. Police are uniquely unsuited for countering these specialists - who have pre-positioned their charges, explosives, weapons systems, etc., so they can travel light and still make maximum impact.

Killing masses of people under those conditions is like shooting fish in a barrel - and the terror that spreads as word gets out of massacres - makes things even worse. Dress as cops? That really piles it on!

All this takes time and preparation. Months. And they're funded, so they can refine their caches, movements, ingress and egress assists - everything.

A hundred men inside the walls - can do more damage than a thousand men outside the wall - in one tenth the time.

Recall the sniper team that paralyzed the northeastern seaboard a couple decades ago? That was two males - and one was just a kid. And one 5.56 rifle.

Your initial numbers you assume - are wrong. Start there.

You also have to factor in the cultural makeup of both countries which is radically different ...... I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying there's other things to consider besides numbers...

It's heartwarming that Canada has such respect for human life.
