The funny thing is that through the entire game, right from the start and even after, the Gators were complaining that THEY were getting screwed by the refs. They believe the refs missed 2-3 targeting calls on us.

Keionte Scott almost got himself banned permanently late in 4Q on targeting tackle that wasn't on sidelines. Thankfully he never even made contact with WR.

Young lion was flying through air like a missle with crown of helmet. Just dumb, dumb, dumb.

Missed calls are part of the game. But blowing that whistle early in this game where we had pushed the pile a few times before then was ridiculous and inexplicable

They were wrong to pick up the flag on the punt return interference. And it looked like they missed a personal foul when Brown's helmet was yanked off at the end of a run in the 2nd half.

This was wayyy before that. They named 2-3 just in the first half.

I guess I’m not making my point well. (Forgive me. It’s early and I haven’t been sleeping well lately!)

Yes, it was a very physical game on both sides and yes, we absolutely held our breath on a couple plays. But they cry targeting pretty much any time two players’ helmets touch each other (this is in every game - not limited to last night’s, btw). There was thread after thread after thread on Twitter last night about how the SEC officials were against them and were clearly just refusing to call out all of our egregious violations. No mention, of course, that the refs could have flagged them MANY times as well for similar violations. That’s just where I get annoyed. I have degrees from both UM and UF, and the difference in this regard between the two fanbases is huge.

Overall, other than the missed TD, I didn’t have a huge problem with the refs. I was worried in the beginning that they might not keep things in check. But they allowed the kids to play a physical game without calling a million penalties, and without it getting out of control. That’s what a rivalry game should be.

Mesidor did hit a Gator pretty high on a reverse, but it was an awesome play by him.

Wes still leads with his helmet

Toure had a big hit as well. The Canes are trying to knock guys out in a mostly permissible way. It was amazing to see how physically superior the Canes were last night. Mario has recruited and developed the bigger, stronger team.

New defensive strategy... have a player take his helmet off right after every ball is hiked on every play.
 
The weirdest thing about that call is he had no hands on him.

You don't call a play dead when the ball carrier isn't in the grasp of any defensive player.
 
Probably the worst call I’ve ever seen in my life. And that’s not hyperbole. Throw out the timing of the whistle bc that’s criminal in itself. Im still trying to figure out why a whistle was even thought about being blown. He was behind a wall of his own lineman. He wasn’t even touched by a defender until he saw daylight and somebody grabbed his hips as he broke out. It was officiated like it was flag football.
