Marty Brown TD that wasn't

Yeah, and the refs admitted they screwed up the call on Cleveland Gary in 88. Still cost us the game and a likely NC.

No excuse for blowing the whistle that early. His forward progress wasn’t stopped and he was not even being touched when the whistle blew.

The only other time I can recall such an egregious early whistle was an NFL playoff game between the Browns and Oilers around 1989ish.

Moon threw an obvious backwards pass that was fumbled, Clay Matthews Sr, picked up the fumble and ran for a TD. Some dumbass ref blew the whistle instead of letting the play, play out. Decided a playoff game as I recall.
I don’t care what some of you so called canes fans say- that was an egregious early whistle that sinks Florida a lot earlier than it needed to be.

I saw it happen in a noisy club with a metal band playing (my band's opener) but I assumed they blew it dead but yea his forward progress wasn't close to stopped. Just an atrocious call by the refs. Especially because we're known as team that goes full rugby behind our backs which is totally legal. What jackass blew the whistle?

I've never seen anything like that. He blew the whistle *after* we broke out of the pile and started downfield
Where did they place the ball? It should be wherever the ball carrier was at the time of the whistle. I believe they also moved it back to the pile vs 5 yards down field

I’ve never been one to complain about officiating. I think it’s generally one of the biggest cop-outs in sports, but that was an egregious theft of points from Miami.
