Martell would never start over Garcia or TVD. Martell is strictly a scout team QB and a last resort option if half the OL gets injured or covid and we don’t want to reschedule Duke. He would need to have a Kingesque work ethic to ever be anything more than that. Something he’s never shown thus far in his career.

While Martell may never start for us, it’s been well documented by coaches and the players that Tate has a great work ethic. So that point is irrelevant.

I said this exact thing yesterday, but trying to explain why it might be a good thing on this board is like bashing your head against a brick wall. The hive mind has decided how they feel about Martell

Can't have too many qbs in the room as long as not taking up a scholly. Great for scout team.

How do you think he would have done as a QB at a school like South Miami? Would he have even been a 3* prospect?

Is Garcia definitely here for the spring? If it's a question, there might be a shortage of arms with Perry in portal. Teammates and coaches know the kid, so will trust their judgement on Martell.

Im totally okay with Manny bringing him back. The coaching staff may be able to find some value in Martell. Some possibilities:

* Maybe he can provide some good competition for Garcia for the #3 spot.
* Maybe he can provide some good competition for Restrepo for a slot receiver spot.
* Maybe he can be a good scout team QB who can emulate some of the more athletic QB's we'll face in 2021.

Also, as a parent - We know the kid had some mental health struggles in 2019. This might be good for him personally. The downstream effect is that it creates another thankful alum who will be an ambassador for UM football to the marketplace (specifically Bishop Gorman High).

If you want to change the culture the last thing you do is bring back a guy who has been a cancer. How many times can he take a leave and be welcomed back. Its a panic move which tells me King might not be ready for the Bama game. You give a guy a second chance after that you part ways. I will predict (stunner) if Martell does not win the job he takes another leave. It also says they do not have confidence that the guys in the QB room now can start this year.

Any player that sat out due to Covid in any team will be welcomed back because the team will be essentially forced to take them back per NCAA guidelines on the matter.
He will have a short leash I’m sure and like some others potentially transfer o after spring when buried in depth chart.

Tate in this OSU offense really has been only playing in pretty much blowout games let's not kid ourselves here.Hope I get proven wrong but to me, he hasn't shown anything special + all the off the field stuff where he is focusing on taking pictures of his then IG Model girlfriend instead of getting right on the field told me everything you need to know..
