Mark Pope’s dismissal from JSU

Context, exactly. It was a response to being asked about players whiny parents *****ing about their kids PT. He didn't name anyone, only that if whoever wasn't happy they could come pick them up.

We have a bunch of brain-dead Deion-loving porsters who love to make false equivalencies.

Sure, Neon Deion staging a "vote to keep Mark Pope" moment for a reality show is equal to Mario answering a general question about parents having a problem with their sons' playing time.

There are so many enables on this site.

Pope is a 23 year old grown man. He knew what he signed up for when he decided to enter Deions program. Pope knew when he entered the program there would be cameras documenting everything and he still decided to act in a way to get himself kicked off a team.

For those who are going to say Pope didn’t know a documentary would be filmed when he signed up.

1. Deion has had a documentary filmed every year while at JSU

2. Pope would have had to sign a release form.

In terms of manipulating the players into deciding what he (Deion) wanted….every single coach does this. Jimmy Johnson legit bragged about doing this in his memoir.
Okay? I don't think anyone is saying Pope shouldn't be held accountable. Everyone is saying Deion is a piece of **** for clearly doing this so publicly to help his show. He could've just kicked him off the team privately like every other coach ever.

Well there’s people that believe in him and his message and can’t see the forest for the trees. Some of their eyes were opened with the whole Jsu thing. But there’s folks who don’t realize it’s all an act.

I grew up a huge Deon fan and I knew a long time ago what he was all about. He’s all about self promotion and Deon. That’s never changed, no matter how much he says it’s about the “ lord”.
That's why I believe Bomani Jones was correct in his critique of Deon leaving JSU. He mentioned the same thing, "The Lord guided him to JSU" blah, blah, blah. Just say you left for the money and keep it moving.

Btw if anyone interprets this as me being a Deion Stan, let me unequivocally say **** Deion. He’s a self centered, self promoting con man. **** him and FSU
Once again..... No one gives a **** about him letting Pope go. It's HOW it was handled. **** read the board before commenting man lol

Yea, after a certain players father made a big stink on social media. Not knocking Mario just saying.

Wrong. He never named names. And it was multiple parents, including someone else's mother.

You're entitled to an opinion, but you don't have to say things that are false.

Anybody know if he plans on continuing the reality show schlock at Colorado? I'd say they're nuts if they allow it but I think they were so desperate that they probably agreed to any form of contractual demands he'd make about this stuff. The fact that his first team meeting/scripted scene there was filmed and immediately leaked is probably another sign.
Yeah, he brought his son along to continue filming everything. A couple of weeks ago, his son made a cryptic post implying that the school has already objected to some of the things he was doing.

You’re missing the point. Pope, a grown man should have known how Deion does business and conducts himself when he signed up for his program. He should have known if he screwed off he would put himself at risk of being publicly humiliated like this because Deion films everything and is all about himself.

People trying to feel bad for Pope fail to realize he made a conscious decision to put himself in that position with a man who is self centered, self promoting, etc.

If this was a 18 year old kid who was a week or two into his college career, I would feel differently, but Pope should know better.

It doesn’t make what Deion did right or something I support.

Re read my post.

People are enabling Pope by feeling bad for a conscious decision he made to join a program led by a self centered con man who films everything.

Pope at 23 should have known if he screwed off this could have happened. People feeling bad for him are enabling his ****** decision making. Don’t join up with a guy who will exploit you.

I think you're missing the point. I'm 10000% sure no kid on that team knew that a player would get dismissed in that particular fashion. ****, he still could have filmed his dismissal....in a totally different manner.

Then that’s on them for not realizing what Deion is capable of which is my point! When your head coach is filming himself 247 and is all about himself nothing should be off the table. And for a grown man not to be able to critically think and understand a man like that…then I don’t feel bad for him.

It ain't feeling bad for Pope or enabling him, it's the coaching and person that Deion is. He does this nonsense all the time yet everyone kisses his butt. People will look at this as Deion doesn't play games but in reality, this was a game to promote himself. Pope is just a puppet it could have been any player or coach and Id have the same reaction.

At the end of the day, no matter what we say about the situation.... PARENTS will see this. And we all know how sensitive they can get. Even filming everything is not really the issue. It's the fact that he has to make every single thing a spectacle. That's not mature or professional but hey man, just my opinion. I gave too much energy on this lol. We'll see how things play out 👀

I’m fine with voting a guy out and making it a team decision. But on camera. Sorry kid may be an a-hole but you just proved you were too. Like others said that was an extra show for the cameras.
I'm sure Pope knew the cameras were rolling when he did what he did to get kicked off. That was a lesson in accountability to not only Pope but the whole team. Always think about your actions because there's always consequences. Deion is preparing these young men for the real world. How many professional athletes do we see get arrested and it's blasted all over tv and social media? No one cares about their feelings in the real world, so make better decisions.

I'm not saying you're 100% wrong but there's still things that you're saying that's not relating to my issue lol. It's fine though. We both can agree on what type of person deion is though.
