My maybe way too long take:

If i was a fan of the coach or school, I would agree with:
The video recording the vote for marketing purposes

Whether i was fan or not:
I agree with dismissing off team.

What is absolute narcissistic, power tripping, humiliating someone for wholly selfish purposes, evil BS. Is video recording kicking someone out publicly.

One thing that might have saved that evilness (and helped the marketing) was to say to the team something like... "Id like us to now AND always show our personal love and good graces to what has been a member of the family.... but before I we do that, I'm going to ask that no video camera or phone record this because everyone deserves dignity and privacy."

Then, after confirming the cameras were off, Pope received hugs and good wishes from Deon and all who wanted to, while Deon took Pope outside for an "Im pulling for you" goodbye.

Next time, pose the scenario without giving the details that it was the team or the Coach…

My guess is the board has a more balanced opinion..

I don’t have an issue with this at all. Pope knew the cameras were rolling too. Obviously Prime had a conversation with him before the vote. So it’s not like he didn’t have a chance to leave on his own. I really think kids need to see this and understand that when any coach or program gives you multiple opportunities to get your act right you need to grow up. These players are getting paid now too so don’t say they’re not professionals because they are.

Notice all of those first suggestions were to help the team member and give him another chance? Sanders’ mind was made up. He didn’t “need their help.” That’s reality show BS.

That’s the thing though. There’s now way to pose the scenario without having the details because it was all on camera for the world to see. People aren’t disagreeing with the dismissal, but it was a classless, punk move to record it and put it online.

I agree. First couple times were probably handled in house. Third strike, welcome to the real world, son. Start stepping. If your not helping, your hurting the team.
 
This is what CIS expects from UM when it came to getting rid of Blake James, Manny, and Gattis. The real world works better when it isn't staged for reality tv.

And there's a huge difference between this and Mario answering a reporter's question about parents frustrated about their kids' PT.

Well there’s people that believe in him and his message and can’t see the forest for the trees. Some of their eyes were opened with the whole Jsu thing. But there’s folks who don’t realize it’s all an act.

I grew up a huge Deon fan and I knew a long time ago what he was all about. He’s all about self promotion and Deon. That’s never changed, no matter how much he says it’s about the “ lord”.

If Mario did this, on camera, to Gattis at noon, the uproarious applause of this board would be the direct opposite of this thread.

It would nearly 100% be: Mario is a ******* alpha. Chests would be pounded. Fists would be pumped. Same if it was someone like Thad walking out of practice…

Thing is...Mario wouldn't have made it a classless spectacle, so there's absolutely no sense in speculating about it.
