Mark Matthews commits to TAMU in ambiguously ___ manner. Move On

Take the money set aside for Matthews and do what Indiana did (uh… I mean allegedly of course). Build a proprietary AI model where you can feed in game film and get a prediction of opponent plays and the presnap formations. Makes practices much more efficient when you know what the calls are going to be.

I'm still an "old school" fan..."There's always next year". Find next year's can't miss generational talent at the spot and make payments.

It wouldn't cost that much. Although having Cuban (Mark) on your side helps this type of thing

I trust Mario, he can be flipped before it's all said and done. It's all verbal, as long as it's not pen to paper Mario has a chance. **** Fletcher was flipped at the last second before the actual signing day, he was “committed” to Ohio State. These cats still have to play their senior season in High School. Anything can happen before early signing day in December.

He’s not playing day 1 here.
I mean obviously I disagree with that but maybe you right, we may never know
@AUcane

Maybe.. but he’d need to put on about 30lbs in spring and summer. Not impossible but i don’t think he gains weight that easy.

However, year 3 he’ll be a monster.

My guess why he’s not coming is because he sees an easier path to play at AM. All the other stuff is noise.

Sam-Epelle should 100% be the guy we pivot to imo. I also Wonder if we ramp up the recruitment of the kid from Arizona we offered - Jake Hildebrand. Seems his leader is ASU, which sure is the hometown, but ASU doesn't have the NIL to really match imo. Landing one of those two is probably medium-high priority at OT if we miss on Mathews now.

Also I'd like to see us land one or both of Isaiah Bertola and Amaziah Siale, who are Poly kids at OT.

You know they have high rated OL recruits at TAMU right?

For the record, I said if the staff doesn’t land a top 10 class, the rep would take a hit. Not just MM. Missing on him would just be a lowlight to also not landing a top 10 class. But from what I’m reading, recruiting ranking don’t matter anymore all the sudden? Must have missed that memo.

If you’re looking for something tangible, it’s just a (small) crack in the armor that coaches will use to negatively recruit.

How tangible is this? Likely not much, but I’m answering your question. It’s not entirely a twitter trolling situation.

There are coaches, 100.0%, who will tell other recruits Miami can’t even keep their homegrown stars home, something’s wrong, blah blah blah.

It also impacts future recruits. Again, albeit in a very small capacity, but it is a data point. LSU gets **** near every single kid they want from Louisiana. Why? Because it’s drilled into every kid’s head from birth. You’re a baller? You go to Baton Rouge like *waves hand at 500 elite local players*. It’s not realistic to get every single SFL kid we want, but the more we do get, the more kids in future classes see that and it’s hammered home over and over that your best option is to stay home.

Getting this worked up over one kid at the one position we trust our staff to produce is peak CIS. Get ahold of yourselves. We’re more than fine.

But there are actual real-life impacts. They’re just not exactly crippling, like most people here want to portray. Go the **** on to College Station. Enjoy yelling at midnight. We’re just fine over here.

Actual impact and perceivable miss, but one our staff should be able to overcome... especially at OL.
