Mark Matthews commits to TAMU in ambiguously ___ manner. Move On

Anthony Jones, from Mobile, went to Oregon last class.
UGA didn't get any of the Top 4 kids from Georgia.
Mater Dei in California had 3 kids who were Top 30 in the country...only 1 went to USC.

I know Mario didn't forget how to recruit. I know **** well he laid out every single fact in front of this kid and his family about how he'd be coached, all the kids he and Alex developed, every facet of his experience at Miami. Gaby, and Danny, are saying Miami was willing to pay at least what he's getting from A&M.

The kid still decided to go elsewhere. If you wanna tie yourself to that weird *** cult out there for the rest of your life, so be it. We'll beat your *** down the road, if you're unfortunate enough to see us.

I'm on record, and have been for months, saying it's unacceptable to let this kid get out of town. But at this point, it is what it is. You either get the kid to sign on the line which is dotted, or you don't. Nothing else matters, so it's a flashing, blinking L. But if he's not coming here after all this, there's not a coach on Earth who could've gotten him to stay home, so it is what it is. Just don't let this become a trend.

You're assuming those guys stay and are developed, although I will gice you the elite guys on the OL have a decent record of panning our regardless.

Like I said I understand what you are saying, but your attempt at trying to undervalue what Mario has done, is really not making sense....and at the same time, like I said originally, you guys are losing it over a kid that has not even signed with said school (its f*&^ing April)

We will be fine, especially on the OL and DL.

We dont know what we have with Cogdon and Ervin and you have to keep recuiting. People have also stated that G is the position for Ervin as well. Now both could end up being great players but we dont know yet, and I certainly wont listen to spring and fall camp reports as those said that the staff thought Kinsler was a first rounder his freshman year. Last year's OL class was solid on paper but 25 and 24 were just meh. Buchanon seems like a hit but other than that a bunch of prospects that still need time. We gotta keep bringing in more quality because before you know it those other kids move on.

I don't think Cristobal and Mirabal forgot how to recruit offensive tackles, especially after watching Cantwell toss people all spring.

I also don't think it's about playing time. We play freshmen, and even if Matthews played RT (which he does in high school) he could still go Top 10 like Mauigoa and Fano.

So all that leads me to this conclusion: I think the kid just wants to go to Texas A&M. I don't understand it, but I'm not him. These guys are all different. Texas A&M did a better job recruiting him and looks like they'll win this battle. It's a brutal loss for the Canes.

All we can do is take the L and move forward. Consider it the recruiting version of the SMU game. Focus on Olu Olubobola and get it done. Elite offensive tackles are rare, and there is a big drop off to the next group (as we see in the first round of the NFL Draft). This needs to be a position where we continue to spend money on high school talent. Maybe we can flip Matthews back, but that's becoming less common in this era.

I still think we land a Top 5 class. But I also thought we'd get Matthews. So let's see what happens. We've got seven months. Go Canes.

Thanks. I doubt most kids will tell us how they really feel. I am certain that Cantwell at LT for next 3 years plays a roll in this decision. It is what it is.
