I want D$ and Pete to weigh in with an emergency episode.
State media is getting their talking points in order directly from the Hecht to “soften the blow” of this loss. They should have their script ready to go by tomorrows show
I trust they will have a good explanation for this and D$ already said that this would be a huge loss for Miami and that we can't lose Matthews

I don't understand. We were just in the national championship. What are these programs selling if it isn't money? This seems to keep happening to us and I need an explanation. They seem sure on Miami and then flip.
Well there has been a pattern of closing the top of the board guys since the 24 cycle. Mario is a top tier recruiter but that has been the case. In 23 we got the jump on a bunch of programs and landed a bunch of our top guys. In 24 we had a rough summer after having huge epxectations. We ended up having 4 or so big ticket flips. In 25, the same thing happened except this time we didnt get the rush of high profile flips. In 26, same thing again. Outside of Stancil we didnt get many high profile flips but we did close strong with some great talent.

I wish we had a better track record closing but we just had back to back double digit win seasons one of which we finished #2 and now are a top 5 team again. Disappointing but we are succeeding where it matters most.

Here's the discussion of the emergency episode you need

D$: I want to give a shout out to Pappas alternative brew. For those who need to get drunk but not have the hang over after Matthews commits to A&M, Pappas alternative brew is for you. Made with real hops like Matthews hopped over to A&M. Speaking of hops, Pete hop in.

Pete: We can't say that Nussmeier isn't better than Ward until Nuss has a couple preseason games under his belt, and then, and only then can we make that claim.

Thank you! Yes, it's the same playbook - so sure on Miami and then flip.
Psssht..... They have to actually COMMIT to Miami, then choose another school, for it to actually be, ya know, a flip.

None of DJJ, MJC or MM have ever been (publicly) committed to UM.

Don't tell anyone. It'll be our little secret.

Classic south Florida kid. Every reason in the word to come to Miami and he wants to go live in the middle of no where for a program who hasn’t ever won a **** thing. You can’t make this up. Idk what is up with the football culture in South Florida but the loyalty to the hometown program has gotta be some of the worst in the country. Even the ones who end up staying like Fletcher and Mali we had to work our *** off to keep or flip back. It’s unreal. Thank god we have a coach who can recruit at a National Level. To me this is the biggest difference between Mario and previous coach. Previous staffs went all in on South Florida year after year and it always blew up in our face. No surprise we finally get a coach who doesn’t need to rely on them as much and we start winning again. Try your best to keep the top guys home but don’t ever ever build your board around only South Fl talent.
Exactly, get the kids you can then look elsewhere. I am not worried about recruiting at all. Keep landing top 10-15 classes and portal.

For 3 years all we heard was that Miami and Mario needed to prove it on the field

At least thats what recruits said

They just did that in droves and now a few highly rated players don't want to choose Miami

We sometimes just can't win ( pun) and apparently winning means very little

I don't remember that kid you're talking about from Heritage. He was a QB or something but played WR in between?

Seeing the emotion-only responses from some of the porsters on here is kind of embarrassing. I mean all fan bases do it, but each time I see it, I get flashbacks to my first high school girlfriend who seemed to think giving up the poontang under the bleachers meant we were married and became unhinged when I left after we (er, I) finished.
Yeah, that’s the one. Last i heard, he was a blooming streetwear entrepreneur with his brand GABOS.

& Lmao.

It seems like your definition of "High-profile" is simply someone who has a dramatic switch away from UM in the final days. But if UM wins the battle they aren't "high profile"
Half that list is from 3,4 years ago,we need to be doing that every class of we're really top 5 or 6 in NIL.

Seems like all kids this year love every school they visit. Hard to get a read on alot of them.

MJC - not a L - midwest kid and Auburn overpaid.
Jacobs - still have a shot but he is from north so OSU makes sense
Matthews - would be an L but Miami will get theirs

Mental gymnastics and cope already starting.

Let me make this real easy for some of you. If the staff prioritizes a player, spends endless hours and allocated **** tons of resources recruiting said player and they go elsewhere, it is a MISS and FAIL period, end of story.

Any other excuse you want to come up with is just that, an excuse. Mario and the staff deserve credit when due as well as critcism when earned. They are NOT infallible.

Missing on Matthews who is 1A on our big board is not just a fail, but a massive one if he does indeed sign with A&M or elsewhere. Good thing they don't sign until December. Get it done.

I posted on a thread the other week that A&M made me nervous because we never beat them or Texas for a recruit seemingly.

They just have more money than we do.

If you think this is about anything other than money you are an ignorant buffoon.

Be a tough loss but Mario will always get good O lineman . Only recruit i really really want is Brysen Wright ! Throw all of Mathew’s money at him !! Lol
