2027 Mark Matthews 5* OL from STA Commits to TAMU

Then we're been lied to when we're told we're a top 5-7 NIL program,if we can only load up a couple big timers and the rest we need to hope the staff hits a home run evaluating and they outplay their rank.

Ya I have no knowledge…We may be, but realize there may be a top 3-4 that just above the rest of our top 7-10

Also… money is not infinite. We went out and broke the bank for Mensah. I imagine Abrams and Lennear are being taken care of, etc. No matter what everyone here chooses to believe, money does run out.

But realize that Scott is the only true 5* of all of these losses

I don't look at star rankings the way you do, but to put it in your terms…Go grab the high 4* Bain (Stancil, Lightfoot, Charles)… The low to mid 4 star Moten (Lafayette) and evaluate the rest correctly so that you get 1 or 2 of the 3* types (Nagle) to become Mesidor

I'm with you…I hope to see us land a DL or any position whale or two a class. But we seem to really be evaluating the trenches correctly and for now I'll continue to grade on our DL whipping the **** out of Tamu and OSU and not on their HS* ranking.
The lines of scrimmage are grown man positions, especially the interior...HS results can be skewed just by the "size" of the competion. Recruit the "size and traits" and throw quantity at the position. Let is simmer and see what you have.

It is 100% an unequivocable miss. Tell that to the staff who believe it more than any fan. But try to explain it away in your thesis.
If you could only read the first sentence you’d see i called it a miss; you called it a massive failure so i must assume you think no comani McClain and Jaden rashada on our roster is a massive failure as well.

The question is why if it's Texas a&m why isn't he's committed already 🤔. Kenny Brown a 5star just committed 2 days ago, they had a commit last year a 5star OT. And now mark Matthews plus the kid from new Jersey OT so that's 4 OTs. And according to someone comment mark came they make him fill needed. It's all about the biggest 🎒 of money 💰. And if Miami is in the same amount he's a canes if not he's not. So what what are yall preparing to do. Go to canes connection or shut the **** up

It is a massive failure.

Were McClain or Rashada an OL? Were they in our backyard? Were they recruited after we made a NC game appearance and were flush with more money than UM has ever had for NIL?

It's going to be very hard to get these players consistently. We paid Cantwell. To expect to outbid everyone again for another OT is maybe unrealistic. No team is going to sign all the 5* players like Bama anymore. We need to spend wisely and hit on evaluations of the 4* recruits.

This one is more annoying than MJC though.

1. Brown is more of an interior player

2. The 247 article from this morning quotes MM as saying he’s made his decision and is setting up his public commitment.

The mental gymnastics to even try to compare the recruitments of MM and Rashada is quite something!

Texas A&M is recruiting like Bama right now. Who knows come signing day but there are teams who are going nuts in hs recruiting like Bama used too even in this new landscape

Dude, for real. It's a massive miss IF, again IF it happens. Call it for what it is and move on. **** OOH wanting to praise the staff when we lock up an "unknown 3 star" OL that nobody wants because we have the "best" OL coaches in the country so we trust them blindly, but can't call a spade a spade when and if we miss on the #1 OL in the country who is in our backyard coming off the season we just had.

it's unlikely they can keep doing it. USC spent crazy $ last year. maybe a few programs have the $. Teams like Auburn will step in and make an offer to rock the boat like they did with MJC. We shall see.

A lot of the same programs are still pulling in multiple 5 stars like before. It's not true that it isn't still happening. Miami is just not landing them at rate they are.

From 2024 - 2026 (composite 5 stars)

Alabama: 11 5 stars
Georgia: 9 5 stars
Oregon: 7 5 stars
Texas: 7 5 stars
Ohio State: 6 5 stars

MIAMI: 4 5 stars

Not true. It is still happening with multiple programs.

So, I have a stupid question.

Let's say you are the HC of Miami Hurricanes football. And you recruited Jackson Cantwell and Ben Condon last year to be your two starting tackles. Cantwell is a legit starter for you this year at LT. And he's going to start for you three years and then enter the draft after his JR. year. Condon, doesn't start his freshman year for you, since he's not as far a long as Cantwell. But Condon does play play up to four games, and does well, and you can see that he's going to be your RT his RS Fr. and RS So. years.

If ^ above is a true scenario, how much $$ would you then allocate to Mark Matthews?

Yup like I posted earlier in the thread: we’re not recruiting with the big boys when we should be
