Mario on Joe Rose talking TAMU Game

- Gattis creates and installs the plays.
- Gattis creates the routes.
- Gattis coaches the WRs who don't run routes well and/or run the correct routes.
- Gattis coaches the WRs who had 6 drops.
- Gattis coaches the WRs who don't fight for the ball in the air.
- Gattis coaches the WRs who are allergic to blocking.
- Gattis didn't bring in any WR talent from the portal.
- Gattis called exclusively designed runs in the redzone.
- Gattis hasn't called a single 50/50 jump ball through 3 games.
- Gattis waits to call pass plays until the first real game of the year against SEC defensive backs, instead of getting your QB and WRs game reps to mesh properly. No its more important to get your 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th string running backs some reps.

Somehow, many of yall can't correlate this data and blame TVD.

O line gave him consistent 7, 8 and 9 seconds to throw and no one is close to open.

Unreal to blame TVD.
Unreal that yall think Jake Garcia will come in and magically light it up.

Great post

What if the coaches told him to stay away from bouncing punts?
Maybe the kids not coachable..
The punt Saturday was 100% catchable in the air. I think same with the one against southern miss. Not sure why he’s developed the habit of waiting for the bounce. Gonna cost you 5+ yards each time and much riskier to fumble like we just watched.

Beyond just pure inconsistencies with hands and focus… the receivers are running routes that are predicated on pre-snap and post snap reads based on alignment. They’re constantly thinking about the depth of the route, timing of the route, the speed at which they run it and being in rhythm with QB.

That is pro-style and not something they do in high school, 7v7, or in Lashlee’s system. It’s complicated. Makes you think about everything else and then try to catch it.
I hear some saying we need stud WRs to make the offense work but this sounds like the type of offense where the coach goes and converts a G5 QB to wideout and he outperforms Ochocinco.

Mario hired Gattis

I really don’t know why TS is trusted on punt returns given his inclination to field them off the bounce in traffic. That’s on the coaches.
💯. It was not the first he did that.
Now he doesn’t even fair catch the punts, just let’s them bounce after going over his head. We need someone else back there.

I'll tell you why. Most fans don't understand football. They see what the camera shows them which is a pass that's 5 yards off target. What they don't see is the WR not running a crisp route or the correct route. TVD threw several passes where the WR wasn't were he thought they would be. He throws with anticipation. Go back and look at his throws. He throws the ball before the WR makes his cut. He's doing it less this year and holding the ball because the timing and trust are not there.

Gattis isn't helping him with these long developing routes where are WRs are not getting open. So, TVD can't get into a rhythm.

TVD was 21/41. He made a few bad passes. Every QB does, but it wasn't as many as people are blaming him for. If the WRs run correct routes and he completes 3 more passes and then catch 3 more balls of the 6 or 7 drops, then he's 27/41 66% and likely throwing over 300 yards.

Also, the TVD blame game is BS. We had 4 redzone trips. We were moving the ball. Did TVD miss any redzone passes? No. We had drops in the few times that we did pass the ball in the redzone.

This is why I defend TVD. You'll act like he missed a bunch of TD throws. No body was open for TD throws except the Parrish drop. We didn't even try to throw the ball into the endzone when we got into the redzone down 17-3 inside the 10. So, if we moved the ball into the redzone and didn't throw it when we got there, how is that TVD's fault?

People need to look at the facts, not just someone to blame. If you want to blame anyone, blame Mario and Gattis. They control the play calling. I mean ****, you have a guy that you publically say he's the best QB, but don't even pass down 17-3 inside the 10 yard line. Come on.

I’ve been at every game this year in person. And you’re wrong. He’s not going through his progressions. He's staring down his number one option. His accuracy and touch is marginal to poor. His timing is bad.

WRs aren’t bailing him out, and there are some route running issues, but TVD is playing bad football.

This right here. For the most part, it appeared that the game plan was working until we to the red zone. Then we went comatose, particularly the third quarter drive when we were down 17-3, first and goal from the 10, then we run three times. Not one shot into the end zone.

This is game 3 under Gattis who was about to become Michigan's HC if Harbaugh left. NCAA OC of the year. Game 3. Still lots to learn, and the personnel is not there. The WR corps is poor. They cannot get open. That's not on Gattis. Did Gattis drop that 4th down pass? It hit the player on the facemask. Christ.

Want to criticize play calling? Go for it. But personnel issues exist at critical positions. And no play calling can fix that. This aint Madden 23.

I re-watched the game. The 3 running plays down 17-3 were bad. The initial two redzone drives stalled because of penalties. The 4th redzone drive ended with a PBU and blocked pass at the LOS.

As frustrated as we all are, for the most part we just didn't execute in the redzone. Gattis did call passing plays. However, because of penalties and TFLs, we were in 3rd and 15 where AtM dropped 8 in coverage so there was nowhere to go, but throw short.

We just have execute better. I know they want to establish the run, but near the goaline they should pass more to keep the defense honest. AtM had 8 in the box near the goaline and 1 v 1 on the WRs. It would have been easy money slipping a TE into the endzone fake blocking on a play action pass.

There's things to clean up, but the team did a lot of good things to build on.

The good thing is they can try some different things this weekend and then have 2 weeks to get ready for UNC. Hopefully TVD and the WRs can get on track.

Gattis was NOT about to become Michigan's HC if Harbaugh left....Stop it. He would've been NOWHERE in the conversation.

I don’t see any fire with TVD. He looks disinterested most of the time. Jake has less of an arm but is definitely the gamer we need.
Everyone who liked this should be permaband.....holy ****

Gattis is a Corch. Michigan’s offense was very subpar until he had to share OC duties with someone else and now that he’s gone Michigan has their best offense in years. TVD was coming into the season as a Heisman candidate and potential all-American. Everything this man touches turns to dust and if you can’t see it now that’s why we’ve been mediocre for years.

Look at Tennessee. 2020 they won 3 games and had probably the worst offense in the SEC. In comes Heupel and now they’re a top 5 offense in CFB. Good coaches design plays around their players. Gattis isn’t a good coach and is bringing down what Mario, Mirabel, and co can do.

This is going to be a tough pill to swallow and don’t see this argument ending soon. It’s insanely depressing if Gattis is a dud and people are going to exaggerate any silver lining they can find.
