I vote for firing Gattis, but something like a scene from Gladiator…

My editing skills aren't there, but imagine Mario's head over Gerard Butler's head, and Gattis's head over Peter Mensah's.

Idk how you can say he is incompetent when he hasn't even been here a year. Mario always says the right things. You can clearly see how passionate he is about this program and I am confident he will do everything he can to make the necessary adjustments.

Destroyed by Middle Tennessee State, Duke, and FSU at home. You have to try and do that.
We should be at minimum a 6 win team at this point. The fact we're not is so mind boggling. We should have been able to use talent alone to beat Duke and Middle ******* Tennessee, instead we're not going bowling. It's not just a shame but beyond embarrassing. I loath watching other teams just effortlessly move the ball from one end of the field to the other and we cant even sniff the end zone. Honestly, any team that we beat this year should just fold their program.

How come people keep saying “complete turnaround?”

We ended last season winning 5 of 6 games with a QB and an offense on an upwards trajectory under the leadership of the most clueless coach that’s ever stepped on the field here

We lost barely anyone to the NFL draft

We took that team, invested about a billion dollars, and we are exponentially worse on the field

What exactly were we in this desperate need of this REBUILD, TURNAROUND nonsense I keep reading?

All we needed was a marginal improvement on a team that played well down the stretch and returned most of the same guys

How is that somehow unrealistic?
I haven’t been one of those saying a complete turnaround. To expect even a marginal improvement is not unrealistic. What I am saying is speculating as to why we’re seeing the **** we’re seeing is conjecture at best. No one knows why except the people involved on a minute by minute basis.

CMC, needs to do some serious self reflection on his first year. #1 need to hire an OC and let him hire staff and run the offense and manage the clock #2 take a look at S&C program , we still seem weak , injured often as well #3be the CEO recruit and rebuild culture #4 hit the portal hard and find difference makers on O & D, we do not have anyone on current roster that teams have to scheme for in game planning #5 sell the idea to 1 and all you can start and enjoy significant playing time right away
#6 evaluate current roster, find out who stays and who moves on..... lot of players who have not bought into what CMC is selling

You were up here for 4 days and we did nothing just effortlessly move the ball from one end of the field to the other and we cant even sniff the end zone. And the game against Virginia was a ****show, almost blew it against Va Tech, and Southern Miss was a ****show in the first half....that should have drew some red flags.

Read my post again. I specifically stated I was NOT defending Mario’s results to this point.

Again, most of what you’re basing your opinions on is conjecture, speculation and 2nd, 3rd hand knowledge as do even the “insiders” on this site.

No one can argue that the **** we’ve seen on the field is totally unacceptable. Expecting much more than what we’ve seen in less than 11 months after 2 decades of incompetence is unrealistic.

Let me be clear. I am NOT defending the product on the field. What I am saying is to expect a complete turn around in less than 11 months is unrealistic and there are a multitude of factors contributing to what we’re seeing.
Read what you wrote again:

“No one can argue that the **** we’ve seen on the field is totally unacceptable. Expecting much more than what we’ve seen in less than 11 months after 2 decades of incompetence is unrealistic.”

In what world is it unrealistic expectations to expect a team that finished 7-5 last season (including 6-1 in the last 7 games) be able to have at least the same record or maybe one more win while fielding a more complete team at all positions except WR?

QB - returning Heisman hopeful who is being talked about as the 3rd best QB prospect in the upcoming draft during the pre-season. Mario even bragged that he had the best QB in America. Turned him into dog **** and almost got him killed. Put him back in game against Holes even though he was badly injured.

Garcia was loved by a great portion of the fan base, and rightly so. He had shown great promise last season before getting injured. Also now looks like dog ****.

Jacurri is incomplete because he’s a true frosh.

RB - We returned Rooster, Chaney, Franklin and added Parrish and Citizen.

Rooster scored 11 TD’s last season and had almost 900 yards of total offense. This year he looks horrible.

Parrish - excellent effort player with good vision and balance that lacks speed. Plays with lots of heart and toughness. All things that we knew coming out of high school. Has looked like he did at Ole Miss. Steady but not spectacular.

Franklin - seldom used, even in short yardage. Makes zero sense.

Chaney -injured, Citizen - injured.

WR - We returned Restrepo, Keyshawn, Jacolby, Brashard, Romello, Redding. We added Ladson, Young and Horton.

Our WR group looks like they’ve never been taught to run routes, and have had the drops all season long. Can’t block either. Major regression in this group. Colby Young is the bright spot, and they had him riding pine for the first 4 and a half games.

TE - Mallory, Arroyo, Brantley and Mamorelli returned. Added Skinner.

Mallory has looked relatively the same. Not spectacular, but steady. Sometimes great, other times disappears. No regression with him.

Brantley is a good blocker, not used at all in the passing game. Would like to see him get some chances to catch the ball.

Mamorelli is a good blocker. Hasn’t been used in passing by game at all.

Arroyo was grossly underused before his season ending injury.

Skinner is a promising prospect.

OL - Zion, Scaife, Rivers, Campbell, Justice, Clark, Seymore, Traore, Washington, McLaughlin, and Rodriguez. Added Denis, McCoy and Cooper.

Injuries have decimated this unit, but they looked worse than last year in pass blocking early on in the season. They looked a bit better at run blocking earlier in the season, but nothing earth shattering. Group as a whole regressed.

This is only on offense. Defense has been slightly less putrid.

Overall the evidence suggests that almost everyone on this roster regressed. That’s not a talent or culture issue, that’s a scheme and coaching issue.

It’s not about coddling people. It’s about maintaining a professional image. That’s why coaches and players all sound like broken records in interviews giving the same answers. The short of it is that it’s just a bad look. Call out whoever you want in private, but publicly smooth over the surface. Handle your problems in house, not airing out mistakes on players/coaches to the media. What good does that do?
It’s amazing how some do not understand this simple PR concept. Good luck hiring anyone worth a **** if you kill your coaches publicly.

He’s in over his head.

This is what a man who’s bitten off more than he can chew sounds like.

He’s taking credit for the rehab work FSU did for Benson.

A lack of talent doesn’t keep you form being competitive; CORCH.

People are used to losing around here, they’re just not used to GETTING BLOWN OUT

A lack of talent doesn't keep from being competitive?? What kind of dribble is this? I want YOU get the in the ring Usman or Roll with Ryan Gordon. Go few rounds with Ryan Garcia. Tell ow that goes....

Talent keeps you in game. Coaching wins you game. I believe Mario will have us loaded for bear, but it is extremely important he hires tactician as coordinators.

I would give up my left nut to hire Phil Longo. Because he checks the box for Mario: Running the ball. But by spreading defenses out. Gattis pull a fast one, I thought the offense was going look Shannahan's.

Fair enough. Im responding to your comment where you said as much.

Does this program need a lot fixed? Of course.

But it’s crazy to me that people (not you) are talking about this like we went 0-11 last year and had no momentum going into this season when it was the opposite

No one honestly thought we would win the ACC or even beat A&M this year, but just thinking a competent coaching staff could come in and squeeze more out of it than what we saw last year is very realistic

Mfs want Gattis fired mid season. It just doesn’t happen like that. At least not to coordinators

gattis needs to be fired and never coach for Miami again. That’s a statement. Otherwise it’s a bunch of hot air…

Building, rebuilding, burning down, I just don’t believe that the offense has to look that inept every week
I'm here too...Great post

And I understand that a lot of it is Garcia...He is hopeless imo. Young yes, but I believe he needs major work, plays QB like there isn't another team out there. I understand "struggling" on O or even having a weak offense with no size at RB, no Nelson, TVD in and out. But we are on a whole other level of ineptness right now.

I'm a very patient person and I know CMC sees it. I think he will.

Spot on though. Definite red flags.

6-6 and eked in.

Put this thing out of its collective misery.

Again another great post...I'm all for "never quit" and any bowl is a good game. But with the way bowl games are and the seemingly disconnect that exists between upperclassmen and this staff, the small conference team would want it more than us and whoop us (LaTech style)

To the "What did you expect him to do? Throw his staff and players under the bus? Its just coachspeak" crowd..I say to you this..As a LONG TIME season ticket holder (since 1982 which is my screenname)..these games aint cheap and going out to these games takes up my entire day.

So you will excuse me if I would like for Mario to AT LEAST say, "This product isnt good at all. There will be changes made at seasons end to make sure the product is indeed better next season. You have my word on that. And to the folks who spend their hard earned money to come support this crap product we are giving you, I say to hold on and give me another chance to right this ship. I failed this season, but I will work tirelessly to earn your trust back. We as a staff and team, have lost that. And it starts with me and it starts as soon as the final whistle blows at seasons end".

Im not saying he has to come off cheesy like the above..but its okay to say we suck, you and the staff failed miserably, this is an embarassment and there they will ABSOLUTELY be changes made when the season is over to right this wrong.
