Mario on Joe Rose 11/7

Something Mario has said multiple times now after losses is "we didn't coach very well" or "we have to coach better." While it's good to not be oblivious to that, what the **** is being done to fix that? This is one of the highest paid coaching staffs in the nation this should not be an issue.
Just because you build a “dream team” doesn’t mean it gels as one… see nba ans olympics.
this staff feels like that. On paper it works. In reality it’s the nets or lakers

Lol at the comment about Benson. I would have asked, if he was such a stud Mario, why didn't you bring him with you here? And if you tried to and he chose FSU over Miami, what does that say about you?

Trying to gloat about a backup RB that was at Oregon last year, who just whooped your ***, screams to everyone that you are begging people to believe in you.
Mario took a while to bring in his staff, which didn't allow him to fully take advantage of the portal

In my opinion, he’s doubling down on his “tough guy” philosophy.

He envisions us being the Tennessee Titans, a team that can ball control you to death, and punch you in the mouth on defense.

It’s almost as if he’s allergic to good QB play. Everyone last season was really hyped about our QB room, and TVD lit defenses up last season. Most on here thought Jake was next in line, and that Jacurri was going to be a future star.

Enter Mario. Now our QB’s all look like they’ve never thrown a forward pass before or played organized football against an opposing defense. Some of you are failing to connect the dots.

We have had tons of injuries, but he’s the one that brought his guy over from Oregon, where major injuries were prevalent the last 2 years that he was there.

He said they couldn’t “stop the counter.” It’s tough to stop the counter when a simple adjustment is not made. Coach Hayes on his show broke down film of the game and showed what should have been done to adjust. It’s telling that Coach Hayes knows this, but our HC and 12 million dollar staph doesn’t.

I agree that there’s mental errors everywhere on the team, but that’s what happens when you try to fit a square into a circle. Funny how lots of other first year and first time HC at big time programs aren’t having these issues. 🤔

In my opinion he should have said that the entire program is being assessed (players, coaches, analysts, schemes, etc.), and that the necessary steps will be taken to ensure that this doesn’t happen again. That way he’s keepin’ it real and not throwing anyone under the bus.

The reality is that he asked for full autonomy over the program before he agreed to coach here, and he’s responsible for all of the hires and style of play. He needs to own up to that.
Serious question. When was the last time you had a sit down heart to heart talk with Mario? Any of the coaches? Any of the players? You make a lot of assumptions based on what first hand knowledge?

I get it. You’re ****ed about what you see on the field. You’re far from the Lone Ranger. Making baseless statements about what Mario should or shouldn’t do accomplishes what? Am I defending Mario’s results to this point? Absolutely not! Unless you’ve spent as many hours in his office as he does, no one, and I mean no one, knows WTF is going on.

Not looking for Mario to say it, just looking for him to do it. Fire his *** today. If you plan to let him go after the season, it means you dont believe he is a good fit for your program. If you believe he is not a good fit for your program, why continue to expose players that may be back and that you hope to build your program on to more bad coaching?
I don’t agree that firing his *** today is a way to go because you’re also sending a single out to future coaches that you’re willing to throw somebody under the bus in a season that’s already lost. there’s no advantage to firing him now but there are potential disadvantages. Just wait and rehire in the off-season

I read a bunch of lets get to work bull**** and we have great coaches that haven't forgotten how to coach.

Basically blaming the talent. He lost to mtsu and duke. He needs to say i get paid to win games and im not doing it.
He’s not going to say that on the softball question radio show. If he doesn’t make changes in December, we are ****ed. But no coach tips his hand over the scheduled weekly call

Is there anything he could possibly say short of resignation that would placate the angry mob?
Ummm yes.

Stop blaming the players and put it on the high paid coaches for not putting them in a position to win. That every coach will be evaluated and the ones not cutting it will be let go immediately following this season.

Mario is giving Golden answers and miami fans already see through it. He better change quick or the sky will be full of banners telling him to hit the bricks. It could get extremely ugly for mario in a very short period of time.

Well then people shouldn't expect fans to calm down if thats the case.

Give soft answers and our fanbase will eat you alive. Saban goes off even when Bama wins. Show a **** backbone or get run over by the Miami fans.

Mario doesn't have to fire him today. Should he? Of course. But he doesn't have to.

I just refuse to believe that a guy who was most recently in the NFL for 12 years, and been with successful franchises, doesn't realize how things have evolved. There is just no way that is possible.

All we have is hope at this point. This offseason will tell us a whole lot.

Who's fault is that? He also intentionally passed up guys he could have pursued prior to Spring ball assuming he would have more options post Spring. That was a very bad decision.

What good comes from turning up the heat publicly on this staff? They know the deal. Changes will be made. Just trying to get through the season. Same with the players. Despite what you claim, he hasn't blamed them. He's alluded to the roster lacking depth & talent as respectfully as he can. Also mentioned injuries & how we couldn't afford them. Cancel all press conferences if he can't say that.

Your bold will happen. He's just not talking about it to the media.

I’ll ask you the same question, since you seem to be doubling down on your defense of Mario.

I stated facts. Mario promised when he was hired that he would not run an offense that would hinder TVD, or what we saw from him last season. He did the exact opposite.

He strong armed the BoT before he was hired. He demanded full autonomy over every aspect of the program. In year one, it’s been an abject failure. We are equaling records from the 1964 team, and not the good kind of records.

He needs to take accountability instead of doubling down on his “toughness” and “hard work” coach speak.

There are millions of dollars being poured into the program now, including to him and his staff. This is a business, and like any other business that is successful, competence is paramount, and the bottom line is profits.

Ruiz might be his best friend in the world, but I guarantee you that there better be great results in the next couple of years. With the amount of cash that dude is investing, empty words and promises are not going to be enough to suffice.

Beating MTSU, Duke and a mediocre F$U team should not require Baga or Georgia kind of talent. Any competent OC could have had this squad score enough points to beat those teams, or at least be competitive. We got blown out at home in all 3 of those games.

It all starts at the top. Less rhetoric, more action to fix this mess.

in fairness, the guy said we didn't coach well enough. This team is soft by nature. He clearly never cared for this roster but they have to realize by now
some kids just don't get it.
Too many kids okay with losing to basketball schools, FIU, MTSU etc….

Too many kids going through the motion…

And hopefully thats the case.

He absolutely has blamed the talent all year. His answers have been just like Goldens were and have sounded like excuses.

How about we expect more from our OC and connecting and adapting to the players is expectation one. We have to move in that direction to be successful one way or another. Our CB's are not playing to expectations and we need to evaluate if it is talent or coaching, if the effort is not there, or the player simply cannot handle the task we will get a younger guy in and let him learn and take his lumps. Our LB's just do not have the speed needed to compete at this level. As a whole we see a deficiency in team speed and that needs to be addressed through recruiting and the portal.

He can put fluff in there if he wants, but facts are facts. Then he needs to own up to his mistakes and say I will evaluate the staff top to bottom, and there will be changes. This year we are working out some issues, next year is entirely on my shoulders. No one should be safe, no one should be a friend when it comes to the hard decisions.
Agreed and the truth is he doesn’t even have to say these things, just do them. If he doesn’t want to fire Gattis and publicly humiliate him he can do what Manny did to Baker. Take away play calling duties and just have him coach his position group. Tell him Ponce is calling plays rest of the year and we will be mutually parting ways after the year. If he doesn’t go for it then he publicly humiliates himself. Plus he gets to fairly evaluate Ponce.

On the DB, just start playing the young CBs 75% or more of the time instead of Ivey and others. On LB, I respect Flagg but tell Wes he will be in for him on all obvious passing downs. If We can rotate DL we can certainly rotate LBs. Let everyone know this is an audition for next year. Impossible to know if you can count on some of these young guys next year if you don’t throw them to the fire now. Sure we’ll take our lumps but we’re taking them anyway with guys that won’t be here next year.

Some of you sure do twist words.... smh

Not sure what you want Mario to say. He acknowledges the issues. He's not going to publicly castrate GAttis or any coach, to make the fan base feel better
Yes. If he throws his coaches under the bus it’ll be harder to recruit new ones…

I think that's right. If Gattis is still employed by COB 12/2, that's when I go to the shed looking for the pitchforks and torches.

I am not disagreeing with you. Mario took his sweet time to pick "his guys", and we lost out on some key portal guys. Also in this scenario, I believe Mario was banking on having a healthy Chaney, Citizen and would have 2021 Knighton to go along with Parish.

Options post spring are normally very limited for the portal. Its just filled with the seniors that couldn't beat out the freshman in practice.
