Nobody is saying he needed to win a title or even the ACC his first year, but you sure as **** should expect a team that at the very minimum looks competent when you have a staff being paid top 5 money. One who can and should win 8-9 games with no problem. And even than, my opinion is that is still underachieving for what was paid for this staff.

The fact is, there is zero excuse for the performance seen on the field this year. Every single coach has failed miserably. The deserve all the criticism and truth be told, outside of Mario all should be looking for a new job.

Should be as good as last year at least. Last years canes would maul this team

Way to many former Canes are stuck in the past. Feel like you can do **** from 40 years ago and it will be the same today. Football has evolved dramatically since we were last relevant, let alone from the playing days of Cristobal and Highsmith.

I just refuse to believe that a guy who was most recently in the NFL for 12 years, and been with successful franchises, doesn't realize how things have evolved. There is just no way that is possible.
 
These interviews mean nothing. It’s all coach speak. But until he fires Gattis, nobody is gonna believe what he says. Yea the season is lost, but there’s more than enough tape to fire Gattis. Not making a decent bowl doesn’t have to doom the entire outlook on your program, but this offense will.

If he fired him today, fans, recruits, other coaches, etc. would immediately look at Mario and this program differently. That is all on Mario. He made the bad hire and now for whatever reason, he’s riding that bad hire out, and bringing down the perception of the program with it.

Idk how you can say he is incompetent when he hasn't even been here a year. Mario always says the right things. You can clearly see how passionate he is about this program and I am confident he will do everything he can to make the necessary adjustments.
 
He said what he should have without throwing everyone under the bus. All you can do now is wait to see if there is staff turnover and who he hires.

He's going to have to do it in a way where he doesn't lose the recruits. If he does lose the talent, he's going to have to hit the portal even harder
 
Coach Mario just Gets It… he developed that RB that ran all over us. A healthy Travonte Citizen in another year or two is going to be our Benson on steroids!!!

WHOSE EXCITED ABOUT THE FUTURE UNDER MARIO BESIDES ME??.. GO CANES!!

All of this, but I'd also add Ponce to the list in paragraph 1 and wouldn't argue against anyone calling for Steele to go at this point (though I do get the sense he's mostly been trying to mask deficiencies on our D all season).

I mean maybe because he only go here a few months ago.... At the end of the season, we will hope to see him make the necessary adjustments

I don't think he's the white knight at all. He was hired in late in the process, so just because you haven't seen him "do anything" doesn't mean his voice won't be heard come this off-season.
 
What do you want Cristobal to say? "Gattis is worse than Dan Enos and I'm going to can is a$$ in December". He's not going to say that. In fact, no coach has ever said something like that. But we all know Gattis will not be back next year. Cribby says so (he did put his nuts on the line), and that's who I'm rolling with until he says otherwise.
 
Mario knows the main issues with this team has been injuries. Nick Saban wouldn’t be able to overcome the injury issues. Gattis and the offense is a close 2nd.. that will get resolved. It’s all part of the process.

Keep preaching this. This team will look completely different when we get the bad seeds out of here and bring in players that want to be great

I read a bunch of lets get to work bull**** and we have great coaches that haven't forgotten how to coach.

Basically blaming the talent. He lost to mtsu and duke. He needs to say i get paid to win games and im not doing it.

You see coaches point out bad play all of the time. During half time interviews, after games, and other times. This is a tough sport and you need to be tough to play it. If hearing you are not up to par hurts your feelings you most likely are not cut out for championship football. Maybe that is the whole culture thing we speak of now.

Although we like to coddle people the real world is not so nice. Yes, things are much more soft these days, but the result is a soft team with players that care about social media more than the pain of losing and the burning desire to be the best.

It’s not about coddling people. It’s about maintaining a professional image. That’s why coaches and players all sound like broken records in interviews giving the same answers. The short of it is that it’s just a bad look. Call out whoever you want in private, but publicly smooth over the surface. Handle your problems in house, not airing out mistakes on players/coaches to the media. What good does that do?

Not looking for Mario to say it, just looking for him to do it. Fire his *** today. If you plan to let him go after the season, it means you dont believe he is a good fit for your program. If you believe he is not a good fit for your program, why continue to expose players that may be back and that you hope to build your program on to more bad coaching?
