I’m pretty confident it won’t, and the people that are reporting that are either the exact people that want you to believe Mario is the only person that can save this program, or connected to people that believe that.

But just my opinion.

I don’t believe Mario can bring the program back to dominance. He’s got the same warts that Franklin had at PSU.

But if you think another coach is going to pry these historically stingy wallets open; then be my guest and take the gamble.

I think the bolded is what it is. It would absolutely be a gamble to find out. Probably better off getting into one of the two big conferences while he’s still HC to at least cash checks via private equity and then make a move…might solve the money problem right there, no?

But if you want to play it safe and keep him, then adjust your expectations accordingly. And for some of you, adjust them a lot, lol.

Mario is nowhere close to Franklin.

Franklin, until this year, always beat who he was supposed to beat.

Mario doesn't. In fact, Mario has now lost six times as a double digits favorite.

Manny Diaz has a better ACC record at Duke than Mario does at Miami.

Take the gamble. Mario was ramrodded down people's throats. There were unhappy rich people on the other side too. Gamble vs. giving up.

Franklin went 65-37 in the Big Ten

With this loss Mario passed Freeze and DeBoer for most losses as a double digit favorite. Once again to compare him to Kiffin- up until the Kentucky loss last year, Kiffin had won 25 games IN A ROW when a double digit favorite. People don’t understand what good coaching looks like. It doesn’t matter how well resourced a program is when it’s a guarantee the team will lose at least two games every season when a heavy favorite.

Thing is you’d never hire anyone worth a crap because before they’d EVER sign a contract no matter the money they’d make **** sure they had the same commitment and backing that Mario is getting…
