I said it when Cristobal was hired- The marginal improvement in recruiting isn’t going to invalidate the lack of gameday coaching ability. It wasn’t much of an upgrade. Instead of paying Cristobal 5 million more per year, give that to Diaz for NIL and hiring a better staff. This isn’t a ringing endorsement for Diaz, just cold rational cost benefit analysis. We just got beat by the OC That Diaz hired. I think he would have brought in better recruiters to make up for his deficiencies. Even a generational qb like Ward wasn’t enough to make up for Cristobal’s coaching.

NIL completely negated his only positive attribute.

You’re better off going X’s and O’s guy in this era. That or an impartial CEO type that won’t micromanage.

Maybe we’ll see that chance in 2028.

Unless they have Urban Meyer lined up, might as well give Cristobal an extension. Could have hired a better HC after Shannon, Golden, Richt, and Diaz but we didn’t. We aren’t winning a championship with Mario but the braintrust could have done far worse and made an even bigger mistake . I don’t want to give them the chance to fail at picking another HC. But someone needs to talk to Cristobal and tell him he needs to make changes. Is he going to have to scapegoat Mirabal? Maybe but it’s his own fault. Also need to get a top dual threat QB this offseason as well as a bellcow RB who has home run speed. fletcher isn’t the guy. And f#cking fix LB. I am tired of seeing Miami get shredded because he have slow *** LBs.

You guys can beat a dead horse all you want. The OL is not as talented as you want to believe. DL is better, that's for certain. As the year has progressed, we have seen the faults of both.

Now with that being said, my argument was never about 1, or 2 position groups, it was a whole. And again, Mario is not recruiting anywhere near the top programs.

The OL is more experienced than it was last year with mostly the same talent. We had the #1 offense. We can’t move the ball because we dont have good RBs or a QB who scares a defense. Put Ward and Martinez back there and this offense is scoring 45 ppg game again.

Can’t blame him for JoJo’s.

Toney was a classic force though. He had all the time in the world.

He’s just not the elite QB we hoped for. He’s a solid game manager with no elite weapons besides Toney.

He’s basically what he showed he was the season after Bowers and McDonk left. And we’ve got our own version of Mike Bobo going on in Coral Gables.

The main reason is the intense competition for quality HC candidates with all of the high profile openings.

There are more openings than high caliber HC candidates.

That’s why IMO it’s more realistic to focus on Mario’s coaching staff, especially OC.

We’re always a player away. Mendoza makes this team win #6. Last season I think J Smith makes us unstoppable, even with the defensive flaws. But he wasn’t a realistic option. Was always going to OSU. Mendoza is the QB that Mario would design on “create a player mode” including coming from his own Alma mater. But it’s just Miamis luck we miss out on the Columbus HS QB and pay a kings ransom for Beck.

Beck was 32-3 at UGA. He didn't suck

If he wins 9 games this year, he will be 19-6. Thats the best 25 game record in 20+ years. The people that paid for him to come here want him to be the guy. If he found a way to win 10 games…first coach since Coker to have back to back 10 win seasons. These guys will lock him in. I promise.

And, I think winning 9 or 10 games with this team is FAR from a given.

The real reason is most schools are making hires based on a pre-NIL/pre-portal era criteria.
