If we cant beat WF with Ethan O'Connor (who I know many of you think sucks based on one game where he was getting beat on back shoulder throws), Xavier Lucas, and Damari Brown AND Jaelon Waters (who sources said he was ready to get PT)....then lets stop all this talk about being national title contenders. National title contenders are not worried about beating WF.

Now if you want to talk to me about Clemson? Then fine. But a tandem of O'Connor and Lucas would start for the majority of teams in the ACC and maybe the country... So lets not act like we are trotting out there Nate Dortch and Carlos Armour. We will be okay. Dont cancel your hotel and air fare plans for Charlotte just yet. :cautious:

So he said on Joe rose this morning that the goal is to get him back by end of the season.
Wonder if that means regular season (end of November) or deep playoffs timeline (January)?

End of regular season would be my guess

You don’t think the teams we’re playing know OJ is out? You also have to provide a weekly injury report for conference games now. My point is, say nothing or everything. He said it’s a long-term injury. Pretty sure Clemson knows he’s not playing against them. And even if they didn’t, they’ll know the week of the game. This isn’t even close to a Mensah or Toney type situation where your entire defensive gameplan changes based off their availability.

You think FSU is scrapping their plans they had in place for Miami because of OJ Frederique? This isn’t Deion Sanders here. Just be transparent. He broke a bone in his shoulder, we think it’ll be 6 weeks but we’ll evaluate. He has a torn labrum, he had surgery. Or is having it. That’s not putting us at any semblance of a competitive disadvantage. And further, we’re about the only school who does this.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but when Stephen Daly blew his leg out celebrating the Big 10 championship game, I’m fairly sure they pretty immediately said what he did and he was out for the year. Remind me how much that changed their fortunes?
I understand what you’re saying, but Daly isn’t a good example. Mario has always been transparent if a guy is out for the year. What he is not transparent about is any other injury.

Defense is going to be extremely simplified moving forward. Forget thinking this will be a top tier defense for the season.
Simplified because we lost a corner in the deepest room in the team? Get real dude! This is going to be a top defense this year and OJ will be back, he’s not done for the season. Posters come on here and say stupid stuff like this just to get a reaction from other fans on here. This is just flat out, not true. SMH

Unless Lucas has not suffered an injury that will require him to miss time, and we haven't heard anything else to suggest that, yes, it'll be simplified. Which is normal cause of action on football teams when your 1st and 2nd CB are hurt and miss time. Simplified also doesn't mean "worse", you can call it less aggressive or less complex. It'll be more like Stanford 1st half over Stanford 2nd half.

This most definitely was not posted to get any sort of reaction. The more young corners that have to play because of injuries of others, the more simplified it'll be. That's completely normal.

Also, calm your ****. I didn't **** your wife.

70% of you on this board are absolutely insufferable. Acting like it’s the end of the world that we’re down guys in the DB room. Somehow now our schedule is a gauntlet according to some here and now “nothing can be taken for granted.”

Nothing was being taken for granted to begin with, get a grip. We have an O that’s gonna put monster numbers and points on teams. And our D will be fine. Not elite hut they don’t need to be right now.
100%, some posters on here are literally at another level of doom gloom on anything that happens to this team. It’s literally unbelievable! We lost a DB from the deepest room on the team and now all of a sudden we suck! It’s like get real dudes, OJ is not done for the year, so that’s a good thing and we will be fine!

There goes playing anything but soft zone all year...which puts more pressure on the d-line. For ***** sake
BS! Brown is a bump and run corner, Lucas is a bump and run corner! Ethan can play that way as well. Get real dude! Is it your goal just to come on here and just talk nonsense because everything you just said in your post isn’t true! It’s like some posters on here are posting for clicks or something. SMH

Would love to see JJ get some burn at Corner as well

Here comes the doom and gloom lol
Like clockwork! SMH we lose a cornerback for a little while off the deepest room on the team and now all of a sudden the world is crumbling. Lucas, Brown and O’Connor have us folks and we will be just fine until OJ comes back. It’s like dang guys, step back from the ledge. OJ isn’t done for the year, be grateful for that.

Last year's success, our recruiting success, 20+ years of misery and seeing what appears to finally be a balanced, complete roster calibrated everyone's expectations to playing/winning ring #6 this year. Injuries are the one thing that can sink those dreams fast. So, I can understand the frustration and freaking out, but, then again, some of us on this board are too old to be setting ourselves up for a coronary after just one game.

Personally, I think Bender's advice is sound: calm the ****.
