In a lot of ways it’s important that Miami (or any highly functional organization) continues to remind everyone that there is no one bigger than the program. It sucks in the micro to lose *potential*, but a healthy team needs a prominent departure that’s OUR choice every few years. In other words, putting your foot down on a non-performing 3 star is pointless, to have a culture it has to apply to high performing 5 stars. business history is littered with examples of successful organizations getting too far over there skis with making exceptions for their superstars.
It’s what we lost in ‘03-‘05, which contributed in our 20 year run of misery.

Sounded like he said “he DOES NOW” return from injury. But the response from the host was as if that was bad news. So I’m assuming Mario meant does not return due to injury.
My thoughts exactly....and just like a night club we need security at the front and back door of CIS to stop all the nonsense.
Unfortunately we’ll now have to figure out how to make it with 3 5 stars and 5 4 stars at defensive end, with a HOF coach and top 3 coordinator, a top secondary that will blanket receivers and with an offense that scores 40 points and puts the opposing team in passing situations. Tough situation to be in.
This leads me to believe there must have been a history of not handling his responsibilities. No way Mario dismisses a 5 star talent because of one incident. He must have been on thin ice.
Sucks. Was looking forward to seeing him play. He’s got the measurables that’s for sure. But that’s why you recruit replacements for the position.
He was down right bad at blocking last year.
Several plays got blown up because he completely wiffed on his block or got pushed back.
Really hope he has improved his blocking this offseason, or we might be in trouble at the TE position AGAIN.
also depends on what you define as talent. if you think of it as “proven likelihood to deliver the desired results” (my preferred definition) then you can see them coming to conclusion that the likelihood is low, because he’ll never do what he has to in order to see the field in the first place.

As for Lowe, my goodness, it was one thing when kids were blowing their opporuntities and losing their scholarships and endangering their football careers, Now you're lighting 7 figures on fire because you can't be a team player. Lowe could have played 3 years here and had close to retirement money. I worked in youth psych a long time, and some people just don't have impulse control. They know better, they just can't help themsleves.

heard he was hunting birds in rural ohio, tripped and fell on the shotgun (it had no shells) but it penetrated him in a place he would have preferred not to be penetrated. after reconstructive surgery and removal of the bag, he's healing, but it will take time.
How bad does an injury have to be for someone to "not recover" from it?
